The PebbleCreek Quilters members create a quilt each year that is raffled, with the proceeds going to supplies for the many community service projects and equipment/supplies for the Fiber Arts Room (Diamondback) in the Creative Arts Center (CAC). The winning ticket for the quilt will be drawn this coming Dec. 9 at the PC Quilters Holiday Luncheon. The drawing of the winner is a much-anticipated event because the quilt is always exceptional in color, design, and quality of piecing and quilting.
This year’s quilt is particularly special since it was pieced by Sue Godwin. Sue was a very active member/leader and sought-after teacher in the organization. Sue passed due to cancer a year ago. Her daughter donated the quilt top to the group. Barb Mauer, prize winning longarm quilter, was asked to complete the quilting and binding. The quilt will be displayed at numerous PebbleCreek fall events, and members will be selling raffle tickets for $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5.
Please stop when you see it displayed to view Sue’s piecing and Barb’s intricate and artful quilting stitches. Tickets can also be purchased in the gift gallery of the Creative Arts Center or a PebbleCreek member. The quilt features green, red, and gold highlights.
Please take the time to check out the website, pebblecreekquilters.org to see past opportunity quilts and the winners, as well as the community service organizations that receive donated quilts from the group. Proceeds will be used for supplies such as the batting (filling) that is used in the donated quilts, replacing equipment, and the maintenance and supplies for the longarm quilting machine in the room.
