Variety keeps life interesting. With that in mind, the PebbleCreek Hiking Club, which usually starts their hikes in the early morning, scheduled a hike to start at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 as a celebration of the winter solstice. The group of 16 brought headlamps and completed a five-mile hike on a section of the Maricopa Trail off Bell Road. The Maricopa Trail is a 315-mile trail that connects the major regional and municipal parks around the Phoenix metropolitan area. The evening was warm, and the group felt invigorated by the change of hiking time and venue. You can learn more about the adventures of the Hiking Club on the website pchikers.org or at their meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Thursdays of the month in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom.
