The PebbleCreek Alzheimer’s Support Group is available to all residents who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The group meets twice a month for a breakfast social and a support group meeting.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take the place of our regular Alzheimer’s Support Group meeting scheduled for Oct. 16.
Our support group will be hosting a walk right here in PebbleCreek at Sunrise Park on Saturday, Oct. 16. Registration and information will be from 8 to 9 a.m. The walk will start at 9 a.m. Participation in the walk is free. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are gladly accepted.
The purpose of The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is to create awareness about Alzheimer’s and to raise funds for this valuable non-profit organization. Not only do they provide our support group with informational brochures, they are also an excellent resource for anyone who wants additional information. You can find them online at www.alz.org.
I should add that the walk is also good exercise and a fantastic way to meet new friends!
We will have two versions of the walk, a long walk of 2.5 miles and a short walk of approximately half a mile.
If walking is not for you, please come and cheer us on!
The Alzheimer’s Association is a non-profit organization, and each year our support group helps. This year we are also planning a special event called QuarterMania on Oct. 27. This super fun event is a combination of bingo and an aution, where you can win great prizes for as little as a quarter! Admission tickets are $25, and you should bring lots of quarters, as we will have more than 30 prizes to bid on. This event will be held in the Chianti Room. A cash bar will be available.
The proceeds from all these events go to The Alzheimer’s Association for our PebbleCreek Alzheimer’s Support Group Walk Team—The Creekers! Last year we earned Elite Grand Champion Status!
We will resume the regular meetings on the third Saturday of November with a guest speaker. We will also still have our social breakfast on the first Saturday in November.
