PebbleCreek Democratic Club to Meet in September

The PebbleCreek Democratic Club resumes monthly meetings on Wednesday, Sept. 6 in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. The club has been working hard on its fall speaker agenda and, with the 2024 election in the near distance, is excited to welcome some prospective candidates as speakers.

In the last redistricting in Arizona, PebbleCreek was removed from Congressional District 8 and placed in Congressional District 9 (CD9). CD9 is a huge district that covers all of western Arizona from Yuma in the south, to the state line with Utah. It includes Kingman, Lake Havasu City, Buckeye, and the PebbleCreek area of Goodyear.

In 2022 Paul Gosar (R) won the district unopposed. At this time, three people have declared their candidacy for the Democratic primary on Aug. 6, 2024, to run against Gosar. All three will be in attendance at the September PC Democratic Club meeting to share their experience and visions for CD9 and its voters. They will also take questions from those attending.

Brandon Donnelly is an ex-Marine who currently works as an event planner and logistics coordinator. He supports LGBTQIA+ matters, nationwide healthcare, and an overhaul of the education system. He supports women’s rights and the right of all citizens to have a job and an income that supports their families. Donnelly has a Bachelor of Science degree from the International Academy of Design and Technology.

David Lucier has an extensive military background and is a tireless advocate for veterans. He is president and CEO of the Arizona Veterans & Military Leadership Alliance and served as a Green Beret in the Vietnam War. David was inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame in 2009. He has championed several initiatives in our state to benefit veterans and is currently the Chairman of the Maricopa County Democratic Party.

Dr. Quacy Smith is the senior pastor of Grace Unlimited churches in San Diego and Phoenix, a lawyer, and an author. He served in the Marines and as a POST certified peace officer in the State of California and as a Federal Investigator. In addition to running a successful law practice, Dr. Smith is currently completing a PhD in Higher Education Administration at Liberty University. Dr. Smith also travels the U.S. and the world in his capacity as a minister.

The PC Democratic Club is excited to hear what these candidates have to share with us in September. At our October meeting, our Secretary of State, Adrian Fontes, will be joining us. The club has followed the political career of Secretary Fontes for some years and is pleased to welcome him again.

General information about the PC Democratic Club is available on the club website: www.pcdemclub.org. The September meeting will begin with a happy hour at 6 p.m., followed by business and then speakers at 7 p.m. The meetings are open, and all are welcome.
