On April 8 over 270 players, spouses, sponsors and friends of the PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association attended the 2016 annual Awards Banquet and after party dance following a successful season of play. League President Ken Johnson kicked off the event thanking all for their support over the past two years of his term. Ken then introduced the incoming president Steve Ward and the new board members.
The Tuscany Ballroom and dining tables were adorned with patriotic red, white and blue colors and baseball/softball theme settings and poster boards of photos marking the history of the league. The atmosphere was festive with great social interactions among friends and foes alike, the 3-course meal an experience to remember, and the presentation of the awards all made for a fine night. Then, the lights were dimmed and the DJ spun the tunes of a generation; all that was lacking was the disco ball to make the evening complete.
The League Championship Trophy was presented to Augie’s Sports Grill.
Two Presidents Awards were made to two outstanding PCSSA members who have contributed significantly to making the league better.
Remaining awards went to Fred Schmidt (Sportsman Award), Ron Shaw and Jeff Eder (Comeback Players Award), and a Special Service Award was presented to Mark Roberts for his dedication in sustaining the league and its operations in many roles over the years.
Fifteen year jackets were presented to Jack Mateer, Nelson Shahon, Monte Shriver, and Rich Wilmes.
Additionally, each team sponsor from the Spring and Fall/Winter Leagues were recognized and given a tabletop glass ornament of a blazing softball. Finally, a rousing rendition of Take Me Out to the Ballgame was sung by all and President Steve Ward concluded the evening by announcing, “Let’s do this again next year!”
