We all have heard the concept that one of the ways to stave off aging is to indulge the passions of youth. Many folks argue that the members of the PCMRC indulge our inner child a lot. Perhaps, we do.

Part of the fun is sharing our passions with others. In the photo you see Arthel Zink, grandson of PebbleCreek residents Linda and Bob Labenz, enjoying the sound of a steam loco on the PCMRC HO-scale layout.

We enjoy the process of model railroading: creating scenes that look real and running trains through them.

We are all learning various phases of this hobby and love to share with members of the community. We need more folks involved in our club. With more help, we could do more; more times open to display our work for residents and their guests. Share the fun and puzzle of our operations sessions: moving freight (and even some passengers) around the layout with a purpose.

We plan to share some of our techniques in creating dioramas through some classes. One could be how to make a winter scene for your holiday decorating. If we have enough interest November would be a good time to offer it. Let us know. Either come by the club and chat with me on a Tuesday or Thursday morning or send an email to us at [email protected]. If you come by, plan time to chat and get to know us. Perhaps even join in our camaraderie when several of us go out to lunch.

The PebbleCreek Model Railroad Club has been a part of community life here since 1998. We are headquartered in the Eagle’s Nest Activities Center, Room 106. Somebody is there on Tuesday and Thursday mornings – but not always running trains. You can always keep up with the PCMRC on the web at www.pcmrc.org.
