Men’s Drop-In Tennis Annual Party

Player of the year Dennis Daniel proudly shows off his new racket.

Ken Minichiello

It was a perfect sunny day for the Men’s Drop-In Tennis Party in March at the Oasis Pool. Everyone had a great time enjoying not only the camaraderie and socialization among the players and their wives or significant others, but also for the great food that included BBQ, hamburgers and hot dogs, homemade salads, and Sig Mueller’s famous cannolis and carrot cake sandwiches. In addition, Sig made four birthday cakes to celebrate players whose birthdays occurred during the month of March.

Of course, it’s not a party without Lou Tronzo’s hilarious annual award-winning presentations for this year’s welldeserving tennis players. But before handing out these most coveted awards, Lou first recognized the contributions of both Ken Minichiello and Sig Mueller for their time and effort in making Men’s Drop-In Tennis a fun and welcoming experienceeach getting a well-appreciated gift certificate!

As to this year’s annual awards, Lou first proceeded to tell how he and his awards committee spent many days and hours deciding on players most deserving of these annual awards. As usual, it’s obvious that the awards committee takes the awards ceremony most seriously by the effort and quality of the presentation to the winners!

For player of the year, Dennis Daniel received a custom-designed tennis racket. With this new racket, Dennis may now be unbeatable!

For the hardest and fastest server, Fred Carlson received a specially designed trophya tennis ball mounted on a rare imported wood base that is most impressive!

Congratulations to both award recipients!

A live performance by Howard Brodbeck also added to the enjoyment of the evening with some of his popular folk and country songs.

A special thanks to Mike Brady, Lou Tronzo, Dan Clinton, Sig Mueller, Peter Jeziorski, Dave Pliska, Dennis and Carol DeFrain, and Phil and Sheryl Carlson for making this party a huge success. The players are already looking forward to next year’s awards party!
