Lee Ayers and Russ Steglich celebrated their 90th birthdays on March 20 with their golf friends and family at the PebbleCreek Oasis Pool pavilion.

Lee was born in Portland, Ore. Lee received a B.A. in education at Western Washington State University and received his master’s at the University of Washington. Lee’s career consisted of coaching high school football, teaching and serving as an elementary principal, along with volunteering in recruiting on the University of Washington football team for more than 20 years. Lee and Judy have four children combined and nine grandchildren. Lee was in the Naval Reserve for nine years. They lived in Bellevue, Wash., for 25 years before moving to PebbleCreek and did a lot of traveling then. He also played eight years of semi-pro baseball during that time. In PebbleCreek Lee enjoys golf, is founder of the West Verde Golf Association, and is co-founder of the Christian Men’s Fellowship of PebbleCreek. He has been active 25 years with the PebbleCreek Softball Association playing for years, and now, just helping as a coach assistant on one of the teams.

Russ was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has two sons, two daughters, and 18 grandchildren/great-grandchildren. Russ began his career at Pitney Bowes and in 1961 started a printing business in Reno. Additionally, Russ served in the National Guard for six years. Russ enjoys playing golf (achieving four holes-in-one, the last one in 2022 while in PebbleCreek), skiing, bowling, cribbage, and other card games.

It’s not the years in your life, but the life in your years, and boy, you two have accomplished this!
