This month, we recognize Kurt Goss and Laurel Vlcek.
Kurt Goss was born in Long Island, N.Y., and later moved with his family to Santa Ana, Calif., in 1965, where he lived on a farm and raised pigs. After graduation from high school, he moved to the city and began his career with the City of Santa Ana in the Public Works Department (administration). Kurt retired after 34 years of service in 2016. Then in 2018 he and his wife of 36 years moved to PebbleCreek (PC). Their daughter is now an alumnus of the University of Hawaii, where she lives with her husband and the Goss’s three grandchildren.
Kurt started glass fusion in 2022 at PebbleCreek and has found great enjoyment from this art form. He also loves to play golf and cook! Kurt has made some lovely pieces of glass, and we look for great things from him.
Laurel Vlcek (yes, it is spelled correctly!), who along with her husband has lived in PebbleCreek full time since 2018. They came here as natives of Chicago. Laurel has a master’s degree in library science and worked at a library for 31 years. In Chicago, she was head of the adult reference department, and her husband, Randy, was a librarian and director of a suburban library.
Laurel has always enjoyed all the arts at PC and is the current president of the Knimble Kneedles Club. She was drawn to glass fusing after viewing the work done by others in the Glass Club. She finds working with glass inspiring and challenging. She loves touring our National Parks and has visited many of them.
You can find their works in the gallery or the display window in the art building. Come on over and look at all of the great art in the gallery!
