Safety Reminders from PebbleCreek Patrol

John Singleton, Director, Community Services

As we look to the new year, your team in PebbleCreek Patrol would like to remind you about safety issues here in the community. Specifically, pedestrians, bicycle riders, and golf cart drivers—and the related rules and laws of the road.

Our patrol team receives many calls every day about safety issues on our roads. At the top of the list of reported concerns? Bicycle riders and golf cart drivers running stop signs. This is followed closely by reports of speeding drivers and cars not obeying stop signs. The safety concerns with this kind of rule-breaking are numerous—ask any law enforcement person or first responder to tell you who is going to come out worse in an accident between an auto and bicycle or a golf cart or pedestrian? Suffice it to say, you don’t want to be either party in those situations.

Your team in Patrol is committed to your safety and as a result, violators are being held accountable. The HOA has already enforced numerous fines for violations of stop sign and speeding rules.

We have listed some of the most common and basic rules/reminders of the road below, please review and remember them—and please be sure to inform your visitors as well.

* Sidewalks are called sidewalks not ride walks. Please keep bikes and golf carts off the sidewalk.

* Bicycles and golf carts must obey the same laws that automobiles do: Stop at all stop signs, turn on your lights so others will see you, and pedestrians have the right of way at crosswalks.

* Wear bright colored clothes when out walking, riding, or running after dusk or early morning.

For the safety of everyone in PebbleCreek, please obey the rules of the road, and remember to be courteous as you move through the community.
