Mark your Calendar for Monday, April 10, 10 a.m., in the Palm Room (Eagle’s Nest) for the presentation “Genealogy Tips and Tricks,” by Marilyn Simleness, PLCGS.

Marilyn, originally from California, has been interested in family history since her youth. In 2014 she began in-depth training in genealogical research practices, graduating from such programs as Boston University, ProGen, Gen-Fed, and five certificate programs with the National Institute of Genealogical Studies. She has also attended many local, regional, and national conferences and institutes. She began a part-time genealogy business, Tapestries, in June 2016.

Marilyn and her husband moved to Surprise, Ariz., in January 2020. She currently serves as 2nd Vice President for the West Valley Genealogical Society and Chapter Regent for the White Tank Mountains chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She gives genealogy lectures, teaches classes in genealogical methods and sources, and leads a genealogy study group in various venues around her area.

What did you miss? At our March meeting, the meeting host, Larry Johnson, introduced our guest speaker. Debe Branning outlined how best to research historic and “haunted” cemeteries. Her book “Sleeping with Ghosts!: A Ghost Hunter’s Guide to Arizona’s Haunted Hotels and Inns” and other publications were offered for sale.
