Expressions Gallery and Gift Shop: Happy 250th

Gourd art pieces

Sherry Blatner

This month, we have a lot to celebrate. Noteworthy, the Gallery is open on the 4th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. So, if you don’t already have enough red, white, and blue to decorate your house or yourself, hurry in.

Especially lovely this month are the gourd art pieces on display. Come in and admire these pieces, it’s like taking a visit to a museum. The gourds used by the artists range from large to small. Each will add a unique decorative touch to your home. No two are ever alike.

If you’re spending more time indoors now due to the weather, there are lightweight fabric playing card holders to choose fromwe don’t guarantee you a winning hand, but a more comfortable one. You might consider buying several to keep at home and lend to friends when it’s your turn to host a game. The Gallery has many small items for sale. Poke around and you’ll find fabric wallets, zippered bags, tissue holders, glass ring dishes, jeweled eyeglass holders, cards and birthday hat hair clips (a bit like an English fascinator hat).

Members of most clubs submit items to the Expressions Gallery for saleincluding the fused glass club, the wood carvers, fiber arts, pottery and ceramics, beading, and painting. As a reminder, you do not need to be an Art Club member to sell your craft in the Gallery; just a resident of PebbleCreek. We just received a bonus from the IRS, starting this month a hobbyist will not be required to report income of under $2,000!

We do have an advance notice for you; the entire Creative Arts Center will close for three weeks in August (the 10th through the 30th) for refurbishing. So, don’t delay in fulfilling your wish list!

Call for Help: Knimble Kneedles, a PC club that knits and crochets for charitable organizations, is asking for donations of light or medium weight yarn that you no longer need. If you can help, the club meets Thursday mornings in the Creative Arts Center. Some of the club’s creations are available in the Gallery, including layettes and chemo hats.
