Depression and stress with caregiving

We are so pleased to have Marty Finley, M.Ed. address our Alzheimer’s Caregiver Discussion Group on June 20. She will be speaking on depression and stress with caregiving.

Marty holds a Master’s degree in Counseling, with an emphasis in Gerontology, as well as a teaching degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She has worked as an advocate for people with disabilities and senior citizens and has many years of experience as a care manager.

Here are a few more of Marty’s credentials: Served elders in the Sun Cities area for 20 years; a coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association West Valley Resource Center and a Family Care Consultant for five years helping people with dementia and their families cope with the multiple challenges; nationally Certified Care Manager for 15 years; previously employed by Benevilla (formerly Interfaith Community Care) as a care manager for five years; served as a care manager for Foundation for Senior Living’s Catholic Outreach Center for six years.

Our discussion group provides information, resources and comfort for those residents who are caring for loved ones who have Alzheimer’s disease. It is open to all caregivers who are caring for a loved one in the home, at a local care facility or out of state. The meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
