30 players from PebbleCreek traveled to Mesa for The annual Roadrunner Senior Regional which was held April 6– to 12. Congratulations to all the players for their event wins and earning master points. Additional congratulations to Enid Bross for receiving her Silver Life Master going over 1000 master points.
First place winners in knockout brackets
There were several knockouts starting each day with different brackets of master points: Two PebbleCreek teams won first place in their knockout brackets. The team of Chris Mucha, Bill Ballard, Talis Abolins, Jackie Wielgosz and Kate Tracy for winning 1st place in the Cholla knockout bracket four each won 10.58 gold master points. The team of Kathy Bergman, Enid Bross, Sue Gainer, Sudhakar Divakaruni and Murali Nair for winning 1st place in the Prickly Pear knockout bracket four each won 11.44 gold master points.
During the week more accomplishments were achieved in the various games: Knockouts, Swiss Teams, Gold Rush Pairs, 199 pairs (0-299 master points) and the Sunday Swiss Event (0-2000) master point.
Knockouts
* The team of Kathy Bergman, Sue Gainer, Joanne and Bill Korytowski tied for 3rd place in the Yucca Knockout bracket 1. Some teams received handicaps playing against teams that had a larger amount of master points, including some with over 50,000 and some professional players. Each player won 11.19 gold master points.
* The team of Debbie and Dave Deal, Wilbur Argersinger, Ann Arbor and Pamela Ziegel tied for 3rd place in the Saguaro knockout bracket three each player won 5.48 master points.
* The team of Joanne and Bill Korytowski, Vi Metter and Shay Kinney tied for 3rd place in the Prickly Pear Knockout bracket three each player won 5.02 gold master points.
* The team of Chris Mucha, Bill Ballard, Kathleen Tracy and Jackie Wielgosz tied for 3rd place in the Friday-Saturday Cacti knockout bracket three each player won 5.07 gold master points.
Swiss Teams
* The Tuesday afternoon Swiss team event, the team of Chris Mucha, Talis Abolins, Kate Tracy, and Jackie Wielgosz came in 2nd in the C bracket, each player won 2.4 master points. The team of Kathy Bergman, Sue Gainer, Sue Woodard and Georgia Jacka also played in the C bracket placing 4th each won 1.40 master points.
* Saturday Afternoon Swiss event, the team of Chris Mucha, Bill Ballard, Kate Tracy and Jackie Wielgosz tied for 5th place each player won 1.26 red points.
Gold Rush Pairs
* Tuesday, April 7 Sandy Kolls and Vickie Thomas placed eighth in the Gold Rush Pairs overall and won 1.19 master points.
* Wednesday, April 8 Jerry and Kathleen Burch came in eighth in the Gold Rush Pairs overall and won 1.57 master points.
199 Pairs
* Wednesday, April 8 Norm Jacox and Karen Klug placed 1st in the 199 pair’s game each won 2.38 gold master points.
0-2000 master point Sunday Swiss
* Sunday, April 12 the team of Sue Gainer, Enid Bross, Kate Tracy and Jackie Wielgosz placed 2nd in the 0-2000 master point bracket each won 3.44 master points.
