Over the past year, bucket hats have made a comeback and are a growing fashion trend. Brad Pitt, Rihanna, Billie Eilish, and other celebrities have been spotted wearing a bucket hat. “Luxury bucket hats” are sold by Prada, Adidas, Versace, and Gucci. There are a variety of styles and fabrics, including wool, cashmere, faux fur, lace, dried linen, cotton, plastic, straw, leather, flannel, and embellished with bling. Bucket hats are worn with casual and sport clothes, suits, and dresses!
Darlene Helker, a member of the PebbleCreek Quilters and sewing clubs, commented that earlier this year her sister sent her a picture of a bucket hat. Darlene thought it was cute and made a few hats for her grandchildren. Then, Darlene began to notice that bucket hats were everywhere! All the volunteers at the Waste Management Phoenix Open were required to wear a bucket hat. Her thought was, “This is cool.” Darlene organized two bucket hat classes that challenged attendees to choose fabric and sew a hat that reflected their style and personality.
Thank you, Darlene, for helping move along the bucket hat trend into PebbleCreek.
