2024 PCLGA Club Championship: For the Love of the Game

Carole Schumacher

The PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) celebrates our champions each year during our major Club Championship Tournament when we strive to recognize the best of our best. The three-day event for 2024 was on March 19 (Eagles Nest), March 23 (Tuscany Falls East), and March 26 (Tuscany Falls West) and culminated with a celebration at Tuscany Falls Clubhouse.

The winners for 2023-2024 are:

Overall Gross Champion: Liz Mitchell shot a 79, 75, and 82 in three respective rounds and captured the crown to win the $100 purse and the beautiful trophy.

Overall Gross RunnerUp: Kittie Day with three rounds at 80, 78, and 81 for $75 purse and trophy.

Overall Net Champion: Kathi Curtis shot a net 69, net 72, and net 67 in three respective rounds for a total of 208 points to win the $100 purse and the trophy.

Overall Net RunnerUp: Nancy Moore with three rounds of net 69, net 70, and net 70 to win the $75 purse in a three-hole playoff following the tournament. Sharma Fleming and Nancy played hole 18 three times before Nancy parred to take the Net RunnerUp award.

Most Improved Player: Kathy Hubert-Wyss had a starting GHIN Index of 14.8 on March 16, 2023, and improved her Index by March 15, 2024, to 9.8. Using a formula that the USGA uses to determine the most improved player, Kathy’s improvement factor was 1.229. Apparently Kathy worked as hard on her game as she did serving as Major Tournament Chair for the past two years. Congratulations, Kathy!

Most Birdies Award: Ellen Enright scored 41 birdies during PCLGA play between March 16, 2023, and March 15, 2024. Stats are better this year with 187 members scoring at least one birdie (up from 167 last year), and 868 birdies scored by the club (808 last year). Six members scored more than 20 birdies! That’s a lot of birdie juice!
