Unit Happenings – July 2026

Unit 27D Lunch Gathering

Suzanne Rambach

Eight friends of Unit 27D got together for lunch on May 13 at the Westwind Tavern. We enjoyed getting to know each other. Good conversations, good food, and great servicethank you Taylor. We look forward to our next unit gathering.

Unit 62A Books & Booze

Toni Erickson

On May 19, Barb Downey, Lynn Banks, Jackie Bachmann, Julie Greenbank, Joanne Wrout, Renee Fisher, Cathe Pruyn, and Janelle Watts gathered at Julie Greenbank’s home for the bi-monthly Books & Booze gathering. While attendance was lighter than usual due to travel schedules, the eight participants made up for it with lots of conversation and plenty of catching up.

This popular Unit 62A tradition brings neighbors together every other month to discuss books, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. Whether attendees have read a book to share or noteveryone is encouraged to join in the fun and fellowship.

Unit 44’s First Men’s Lunch of Summer 2026

Dan Harris

On June 3, eight men of Unit 44 traded their usual breakfast banter for a lively lunchtime gathering at The Stillery in Goodyear. While they normally kick off the month with a big morning meal, the scorching Arizona summer prompted a switch to lunch for the next four months—freeing up their mornings to play golf, pickleball, and other activities (sleeping late?) before it gets too hot. After all, no one wants to hit the court already feeling like sweaty hash browns. The group dove into a gloriously indulgent spread of classic comfort food. A couple of the guys ditched their usual restraint and went for fried fish instead of salad, though most of the fries mysteriously remained untouched on their plates at the end of the meal. Between laughs and stories from the past month, they caught up on all the latest Unit 44 news. The highlight? Spike Razem proudly modeling his sharp new $160 polo shirt. (Well spent, Spike—those home sale profits clearly found a good home!) The group commemorated the gathering with a photo. From left to right: Dan Harris (photographer), Doug Kirkpatrick, Bob Olson, Spike Razem, Mark Eichkorn, Rick Labasky, Wayne Thomas, and Jim Miller. No word on who took a nap upon returning home.

Who Is the Current Fat Cats Bowling Champ in Unit 44?

Jean Harris

It is a mystery as to who was the big winner in Unit 44’s First-Ever Fat Cats Bowling Tournament Extravaganza on May 28. Eight bowlers vied for the title, as pictured from left to right: Deborah and Scott Crabtree, Wayne Thomas, Barbara Kamm, Jean and Dan Harris, and FUN Friends Becky and Bob Hunt. After 90 minutes of showing off our finest forms, with gutter balls and strikes alike, we crowned a winner. Despite some back pain, our victor smiled broadly when bestowed the high honor of Unit 44’s Current Top Bowler for a Random Thursday Night. Due his (or her?) humble nature (or to be frank, his (or her) inability to stop bragging), what happened at Fat Cats stayed at Fat Cats. And of course, we are all winners.

Unit 46 Westwinds Happy Hour

Spike Razem

Although everyone endured triple-digit heat on June 3, 26 residents of Unit 46 gathered on the Westwind Tavern’s patio to enjoy refreshing beverages and good conversation. Mostly because of the shade, cool misters, and especially cold beverages, the group was definitely in good spirits.

Unit 46 is a relatively new PebbleCreek neighborhood, which resulted in several new residents attending their first Happy HourHooray! A big “Thanks” to event organizer and Unit Coordinator, Vicky Ferraresi! Despite the absence of many snowbirds who’ve already flown north, an excellent turnout reinforced the fact that Unit 46 is an active, fun group of neighbors.

Unit 46 Ladies at the Verrado Grille

Spike Razem

On May 20 an excellent turnout of 16 ladies from Unit 46 gathered for an enjoyable lunch at the Verrado Grille in Buckeye. Known for its burgers, wings, and gourmet options, the Verrado Grille is praised for its friendly service, lively yet comfortable atmosphere, and its scenic view of Verrado Golf Course and the White Tank Mountains.

The fun gathering involved delicious food, good conversation, and included two first-time Ladies Luncheon attendeesAngie Georgeadis and Denise Thomas.

Thanks much to Tracy Kieras and Karen Ramberg for doing a great job in organizing this enjoyable Unit 46 monthly event!

Unit 53 Romeo Lunch

No need to fly across the continent to enjoy great Italian food in Times Square. Since the Romeo lunch is held on the first Friday of every month, the men of Unit 53 have become quite the connoisseurs of fine local dining and chose this Litchfield Park location for their June gathering. Even the mayor bestowed an Excellence Award to this eatery. If you want to join the party in July, just contact Ron Guerin at 913-638-4514.

Unit 58 Always Has a Ball!

Brenda Deckard

Many of our friends and neighbors in Unit 58 like to do life together and enjoy some fun with lots of laughs. We meet every Thursday evening to play pickleball and have drinks and snacks afterwards. It is a great way to learn the sport and enjoy a social event in one evening.

Unit 58 Ladies Lunch at Breakaway Bar and Grill

Brenda Deckard

In attendance (left to right) were: Pat Stair, Brenda Deckard, Susan Hunt, Susan Bohl, Vicky Roelker, Lynn Jacobson, Glenice Sundquist, Karen Dalton, and Beverly Kearsley.

Unit 58 Men’s Breakfast

Ed Raker

On May 27, 12 members of the Unit 58 men’s breakfast group enjoyed breakfast and fellowship together, at Haymaker restaurant in Litchfield Park. In doing so, we shared good food, lively conversation, and camaraderie. The staff there offered us a warm greeting and seated us in our own private dining room,

In addition, we used the occasion to welcome a new friend, Bill Sundquist, who moved to PebbleCreek only a few days ago. Bill moved here after retiring from his career at Boeing. Clearly Bill has wasted no time in lining up with our group and joining smoothly into the socialization that is so common in our community.

Unit 61 Hawaiian Luau

Lynn Grice

On April 25, Unit 61 hosted their third annual luau at the Oasis Rotunda. The event featured catering from Ono Hawaiian Grill, which was enjoyed by all attendees. Sue Canelli prepared a delicious Hawaiian dessert. Unit members also had fun playing bingo.
