Unit 20 Ladies’ Lunch
Peggy Pase
Unit 20 ladies got together for lunch at Babbo Italian Eatery on May 13. We enjoyed visiting with each other and eating delicious pasta and salads. Thanks to Carolyn Rota for our goodie bags, making the arrangements, and taking the picture. We also met at BJs in March and Papa Paul’s in April but forgot to get a photo! We’re looking forward to continuing our monthly lunch together.
Unit 42B Breakfast
Carol Flores
Ladies of Unit 42B enjoyed getting together at Eagle’s Nest for breakfast.
Ladies Bunco in Unit 44

Unit 44’s First Men’s Lunch of Summer 2025
Dan Harris
On June 4, six men from Unit 44 swapped their usual breakfast banter for a lunchtime rendezvous at the Pub Stop restaurant in the Desert Diamond Casino—White Tanks. These gents typically kick off their monthly breakfasts with a hearty meal, but in the scorching summer months, they switch to lunch to free up their morning hours for golf, pickleball, and other activities—because nobody wants to be a sweaty omelet on the court! They dove into a feast of gloriously antinutritional pub grub, though one rogue member—cough health nut cough—opted for a salad, probably to keep his Spanish skills spry. Over laughter and stories from the past month, they swapped tales of Unit 44 news and events, along with men’s health stories, all while relishing the thought of hopping back into their blissfully non-scorching rides, parked smugly in the shade of the casino’s parking garage. The crew, from left to right, featured Don Paxton, Spike Razem, Dan Harris (photographer), Jim Miller, Doug Kirkpatrick, and Wayne Thomas. No word on who took a nap upon returning home.

Unit 46 Fun Potluck at Oasis Pool
Spike Razem
The monthly Happy Hour for Unit 46 featured 19 neighbors, delicious dishes, refreshing beverages, and excellent conversation. On June 4, a good turnout of Unit 46 residents gathered from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Oasis Pool to kick off some summer fun and to catch up with each other’s happenings.
The potluck table included some yummy foods to share: cheese/potato pierogies, Polish sandwiches, several pasta salads, bean salad, broccoli salad, fruit salad, choco chip brownies, etc.
Thanks much to Unit Coordinator Vicky Ferraresi and Social Chair Susan Gildea for organizing this enjoyable event. Despite the departure of many of our snowbird neighbors, summertime still keeps the fun times rolling in Unit 46!
Unit 53 Men’s Lunch
The men of Unit 53 were “eating good in the neighborhood” at the local Goodyear Applebee’s in June. Our men’s coordinator, Ron Guerin, spearheads these simple R.O.M.E.O. luncheons at noon on the first Friday of every month, even during the heat of summer. Call Ron and join them in July … it might improve your love life.
Unit 54 Men’s Breakfast
Mike Strong
Our monthly men’s breakfast was held at Eagle’s Nest on June 2. Ten neighbors came together to banter about nothing in particular and enjoy each other’s company. Pictured from left are Clair Martin, Jack Fink, Harold Rathman, Steve Kunkle, Peter Chimicles, Fred Biancardi, Jack Klepinger, Ken Jarvi, Steve Domholt, and Mike Strong.

Pickleball Is Alive and Well at Unit 58
Ed Raker
Those of us living in Unit 58 continue to enjoy neighborhood sessions of pickleball in its basic form. Not concerned about individuals’ ratings or skills, we play for fun, not for trophies. Each of us selects their partner and their opponents, and these might change several times in each set of games. The result is that there are no hard feelings, embarrassment, or shame occurring in our games.
The qualification for participation is not limited to residents of our unit. Our attendance grows as we invite other friends who might live elsewhere in PebbleCreek. Our attitude is “the more the merrier.” And speaking of merrier, the post-games Happy Hour (see photo) also helps to draw more participants.

Another Unit 58 Men’s Breakfast
Ed Raker
On May 21, another episode of the Unit Men’s Breakfast Group gathered, this time at Times Square, where they are known for excellent Italian food but put together delicious breakfasts as well. This time we had 10 participants—not a bad turnout for an event at this time of the year. We had one member show up a little bit tardy. Bill Mooberry tried to gas up at the Fry’s around the corner, where the pump didn’t dispense any gasoline but gladly accepted his payment anyway.
As usual, we discussed current events, offered personal reviews of restaurants and other businesses that we’ve recently visited, and tipped each other off on the various police speed radar that was hidden nearby. Fortunately, we didn’t solve too many of the problems going on in the world, so that there will be more left to talk about next month when we meet again.
Since we each like to see our own photographs in the PebbleCreek Post, here are our names:
clockwise from lower left: Frank Grady, Charlie Hunt, Dennis Roelker, George Bohl, Ed Raker, Al Williams, Terry Ernst, Tom Lau, Bert Bouquet, Bill Mooberry.
The second photo is of Denise, our lovely server and excellent photographer.
Unit 61 May Ladies’ Lunch
Unit 61 ladies meet for lunch each month. May brought us out to the Verrado Grille. Carol Pierce and Cindy Remesnik organized this lovely outing, and everyone enjoyed delicious food, great company, and beautiful scenery.
Unit 61 Luau and Donations
Unit 61 residents gathered at the Oasis Ramada on April 25 for a Hawaiian Luau catered by Ono Hawaiian Barbecue. The food was delicious, and everyone enjoyed playing Bingo after dinner. The best part of the event was that $1,000 was collected for the Salvation Army Hydration Stations that supply water and cooling stations for people in need during summer months.
Unit 62B Golf Card Game
Judy Freidman
The ladies of Unit 62B have started a new club to keep those who stay year-round occupied with a new activity. Nancy Moore hosted 16 ladies at her home to learn a new game called Golf, the Card Game. Fortunately we had at least one experienced player at each table to help teach us. The main similarity to golf is the nine rounds for a game and the one with the lowest score is the winner. By the end of the nine rounds most of us got it but most likely will need a refresher lesson when we try it again next month. But we are all ready to spend the hot summer months playing indoor golf.
Unit 62B Ladies’ Luncheons
Marie Shubin
Unit 62B Ladies’ Luncheons continue, with the April event hosted by Joy Lovell at our lovely new Westwind Tavern. The Ladies’ Luncheons are always a great time as we try new local restaurants and return to some of our old favorites. In 2025, we’ve enjoyed Bubba 33, Arriba Mexican Grill, and The Yard House at Westgate. The hostess makes the reservation and prepares a theme, activity, or game for the attendees to enjoy while we socialize and catch up on the latest neighborhood news. In April we said goodbye to the snowbirds but welcomed our latest new resident, Judy Sondag, who moved in just a few days before the luncheon.
Unit 62B Golf Invitational
Marie Shubin
The King 3rd Annual Golf Invitational for 62B was held on April 12 on the Tuscany East Course. Forty golfers participated and played in two-person teams. Prizes were awarded for Low Gross, Closest to Pin, Fewest Putts, and a mystery “guess a number” contest. Low Gross winner for the second year in a row was Dave and Shawn Quigley with a 31—congrats on a great score! Prizes and raffles were awarded at the post event social hour. A big thank you to our sponsors: Roman’s Oasis, Van’s Golf, Red Robin, Bubba’s 33, Old Chicago, and more. A fun time was had by all!
