Unit Happenings – December 2025

Unit 8 Dines at High Tide

The October Unit 8 Ladies Luncheon was held at the new High Tide Seafood Bar in the Goodyear Civic Square on Globe Drive, and was a rousing success! For most of the attendees, it was their initial visit to the delightful restaurant, but all agreed they would be back, noting the wide range of luncheon choices, lovely decor, and wonderful service. To join us for upcoming events, please contact Jane Holdcroft at jkh2125@aol.com.

Great Gathering at Unit 12!

Cathy Howell

Unit 12 had a great gathering at the home of Dave and JoAnn Francis. They have finally retired, moved in, and wanted to meet the neighbors. It was a great turnout with several longtime residents and many new faces. There was a bit of bourbon tasting going on and the tables were loaded down with appetizers galore, so no one left hungry. Plans were being made for more unit activities and celebrations.

Cooling Down Gathering!

Camille Grabb

Whew! The hot desert temperature finally dropped below three digits and Unit 27A celebrated with a “Cooling Down” party on the Sunday afternoon of Oct. 12. Longtime neighbors and the “newbies in our hood” gathered on the Schmidt’s and Grabb’s patios to enjoy tasty pizza, healthy salad, sweet desserts, and lively conversation. It’s time for this neighborhood to start livin’ the good “cool” life in our piece of PebbleCreek paradise!

Unit 27D Lunch

Claudia Metter

On Oct. 28, Suzanne Rambach organized a lunch at Westwind Tavern for the members of Unit 27D. It was great to see old friends and meet new neighbors. A good time was had by all. Please watch your email for details about the next Unit event!

Unit 33 Ladies Lunch at Stillery

Patricia Ingalls

The ladies of Tuscany Falls’ Unit 33 know how to lunch! Co-hosts Flo Slezak and Patricia Ingalls brought them together Oct. 21 at the Stillery, a new restaurant in Goodyear Civic Square. From the left: Lexi Keifer, Nancy McSwiggan, Anne Goodale, Jo Werner, Dacia Gordon, Linda Lane, Lynne McCoy, Betty McFadden, Debbie Haun, Bev Hume, Carol Shipanik, Nancy Wagner, Lisa Pinheiro, Debbie Katauskas, Cindy Gramm, Anne Wagstaff, Pat Ingalls, Flo Slezak, and Diane Walenda.

Unit 35Annual World Series Party

Bill Steffan

The West Valley Curling Club met at Mike’s Place for their annual World Series Party. The evening included baseball, beer, brats, hot dogs with all the condiments, and a side of friendship. There was even a game of chance with a few lucky winners with more unlucky losers.

Unit 39 Neighbors Join Together to Bring Holiday Cheer to a Local Family

Amy Volstromer

This Christmas season, the warmth of community spirit is shining brightly in Unit 39 where residents have come together to “adopt” a local family in need for the holidays. The JFCS Adopt a Family program has been spreading the joy of the season to families in need for over two decades. What started last year as a simple idea for our Unit to participate in the program has blossomed into a heartfelt neighborhood tradition centered on kindness, generosity, and the true meaning of Christmas.

Residents from Unit 39 have once again signed up to purchase specific gifts from the family’s wish list, along with gift cards, all wrapped with festive bows and holiday spirit. The gifts will be delivered in the first week of December—to create a memorable surprise just before Christmas Day.

“It’s really about community,” said Donna Moffat, Unit 39 coordinator, who organized the effort. “We all have something to give, whether it’s time, money, or simply kindness. When we work together, we can make a big difference for someone right here at home.”

As the lights twinkle and carols fill the air, Unit 39 is proving that the greatest gift of all is community. Thanks to their generosity, one local family will experience a brighter, more joyful Christmas—and an entire neighborhood will feel the joy of giving that lasts well beyond the holiday season.

Unit 42B Buzz!

Carol Flores

Unit 42B kicked off their inaugural 42B Buzz event. Randomly, a neighbor will put our BEE sign in their front yard, which indicates this is the house hosting an informal gettogether to share the “buzz” of what is happening in our lives and connect with our neighbors. We had great fun!

Unit 42B at Oasis Pool

Unit 42B Welcome Back Snowbirds Party

Carol Flores

We had a tremendous turnout for our Welcome Back Snowbirds party at the Oasis Pool. Thank you to Brad and Margie Guck for leading us in fun and competitive rounds of trivia. We had such a great evening!

Unit 44’s Spooktacular Halloween Bash

Dan Harris

On Oct. 31, a cauldron of frightful-looking friends and creatures crept, slithered, and shambled into the haunted mansion of Ron and Debbie Baron for a spooktacular Unit 44 Halloween Party. The eerie evening doubled as a wicked welcome for our newest neighbors, Ron and Gayle Lopez, who bravely joined the neighborhood’s coven. The guest list, which at times made Ron and Gayle doubt their choice, read like a who’s-who from a haunted Hollywood: the creepy Addams Family, Beetlejuice (who had no problem saying his name three times, as well as saying everything three times), Gilligan and Mary Ann shipwrecked from their island, The Big Lebowski, a sports referee calling fouls on rogue ghouls, a stunningly beautiful Wicked Witch, clergy members who took a break from an exorcism to bless the ‘punch,’ a biker dude and his chick revving up the crowd, the Buc-ee’s mascot (because even beavers get spooky), queens ruling the night, and zombie doctors who groaned from the painful needles stuck in their skulls.

We all sank our fangs into sloppy joes, nachos, and chicken nuggets shaped like ghosts and gremlins, washing it down with spirited and/or frothy potions that had us howling at the moon as well as the TV for Game 6 of the World Series. And let’s not forget Ron’s bewitching dessert spread—(mostly) homemade treats so good they could wake the dead!

The Crafty Ladies of Unit 44 Make Fall Fun

Jean Harris

On Nov. 5, Unit 44’s craftiest lady, Jody Hoff, hosted a gathering of like-minded neighbors to make light-up pumpkin table decorations and decoupage fall vases. With many of Jody’s decorative items to choose from, each got to work with glue guns and creativity to enjoy laughs and time together. It was a gathering so nice that all three of our unit’s Debs made itthree Debs and three J’s (Jean Harris not pictured)! From left to right: Jody Hoff, Debbie Baron, Judy Gorski, Deb Fahey, and Deborah Crabtree.

Unit 44 Ladies Meet Up for Lunch

Chaos and Hooky Reign at Unit 44 Men’s Breakfast

Dan Harris

On Nov. 5, the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant hosted Unit 44’s monthly men’s breakfast, where chaos reigned before the coffee was poured. Bob Adkins bailed via text, blaming a dead car battery—no golf cart to save the day, Bob? Scott Crabtree, the group’s wannabe Uber driver, offered a lift, but Bob ghosted him to presumably play hooky. Scott arrived solo, only to find the table packed with seven other hungry guys, leaving no room for latecomer Wayne Thomas. Not wanting to sit alone by himself at another table (the license plate on his golf cart is ‘HUGE,’ after all), he crashed the Veterans table on the other side of the room while mumbling how difficult it was to keep track of all his appointments on his social schedule. The food arrived hot—except for Scott’s, who sat staring at his empty placemat, wondering if his wife called in to sabotage his order to enforce his new diet. The server swore they were “tracking down” his meal. The manager swooped in, scribbling Scott’s order on a napkin like it was 1995, and—poof!—his plate appeared faster than you can say “burnt bacon,” which Mark Eichkorn requested, as usual.

Laughter and chatter filled the air until everyone split, only to spot Unit 44’s Steve Rustman, another breakfast no-show, loitering outside. Turns out, he skipped eggs to help set up the Chic Boutique exhibit—fashion over flapjacks, Steve? The group photo immortalized (L-R) Mark Eichkorn, Bob Millikan, Spike Razem, Doug Kirkpatrick, Dan Harris (snapping the pic), Darrell Livingston, Scott Crabtree, and Bob Olson—minus the hooky-playing duo.

The Unit 46 residents who proudly attended the record-breaking Happy Hour. Standing L to R: Mical Willner, Scott Carnahan, Hank Jones, Dave Hock, Tammy Carnahan, Dawn Razem, Terry McAfee, Jackie McAfee, Bette DeGraw, Dave Morris, Tracy Kieras, Ron Kieras, Don Brzozowski, Harry Gaul, Larry Willner, LoAn Gaul, Chuck Hakkarinen, Debby Lubitz, Heather Bayes, Bruce Lubitz, Carl Bayes, Vicky Ferraresi, Hal Levy, Jim Ramberg, Dennis Bruce, Gene Walther, Diane Brzozowski, Dennis Gildea, Kim Bruce, Jeanne Laird, Kelley Rogers, John Rogers, Sam Acchione, Tom Gulsvig, Peter Kirby, Julie Kirby, Steve Little, Jim McKelligan, Kelli Little, Michelle McKelligan. Unit 46 Happiest Happy Hour Ever!

Spike Razem

The Unit 46 snowbirds flocking back to PebbleCreek contributed to an all-time record turnout for our Oct. 27 Monthly Happy Hour. There were an amazing FIFTY (that’s five-oh, 50) neighbors gathering on the Westwind Tavern back patio. With drinks in hand, Unit 46 residents mixed and mingled, especially eager to meet several new neighbors for the first time. Obviously some excellent conversation revealed many good stories about each other’s summer adventures.

But, when several strong beverages kicked in, the smiles, laughter, and rowdiness resulted in the group’s noise level being greatly increased. Before management could break up our fun to boot us out, we all gathered for a historic photo to celebrate this PebbleCreek record event.

Thanks to organizers Susan Gildea and Vicky Ferraresi, and, Congrats to Unit 46! Let’s keep the good times rolling!

Unit 46 Ladies at Cooper’s Hawk

Spike Razem

On the third Wednesday of each month, the ladies of Unit 46 enjoy lunch together. The venue alternates between Eagle’s Nest Restaurant and another restaurant outside of PebbleCreek.

This past month’s Ladies Luncheon took place at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Surprise, Ariz. Sixteen Unit 46 ladies were seated at two tables and enjoyed the delicious Contemporary American fare that included gourmet sandwiches, various salads, lunch-sized portions of chicken dishes, pork chops, etc. The consensus reviews were: excellent service, friendly staff, and pleasant atmosphere resulting in lots of smiles, laughs, and good conversations. Several returning snowbirds had fun reporting on their summer’s activities.

A big “THANKS” goes out to event organizers, Karen Ramberg and Tracy Kieras!

Because Unit 46 is a newer neighborhood with several homes still under construction, more residents are moving in every month. Men’s Breakfasts and Ladies Luncheons are great opportunities for new neighbors to get together, compare notes, and learn more about the excitement of PebbleCreek living.

Unit 51 Patio Party

Janet Miazga, Unit 51 Contact

November 1 was the perfect evening weather-wise to hold our Unit 51 Fall Patio Party at the Miazga’s. Fiftyseven neighbors enjoyed seeing each other again as well as meeting our newest residents. Everyone brought a delicious dish to share while we caught up on what’s been happening, and we welcomed back our snowbirds. It was a fun eveningour unit has learned that having gatherings right in our own backyards can be as enjoyable as going out somewhere. Thanks to all those who made this a memorable evening!

Unit 58 Celebrates Halloween

Rose Mansell

Unit 58 socials started off the fall season as they have for the past several years by celebrating Halloween at the home of our gracious hosts Lynn Jacobson and Ed Raker … what now has become a standing tradition. All Unit 58 residents were welcomed whether in costume or not. Partygoers judged the costumes and prizes were awarded for the best costume.

Unit 58 Men’s Breakfast

Ed Raker

Well, the men of Unit 58 Men’s Breakfast Group convened in October, returning to the hub of our operations, Eagles Nest. Our numbers were slightly smaller this time but each of us got their fill of laughs and camaraderie anyway. At least a few of them were smiling, weren’t they?

Unit 60 Ladies’ Lunch

Sherri Hille

The Unit 60 Ladies Luncheon met at BJ’s. We enjoyed the fellowship.

Unit 61 Halloween Party

Laurie Miller

Unit 61 celebrated Halloween with a lively party at the Gillum’s house. Guests enjoyed fresh salads, delicious pizza, and tempting desserts while admiring the spooky lights and decorations that set the perfect mood. Many attendees came dressed in creative costumes, adding to the festive spirit. The evening was filled with laughter, good company, and plenty of fun photo opportunities to remember the occasion.

62A Books and “Boos”

Toni Erickson

The bi-monthly Books and Booze gathering was held on Oct. 25 in the beautiful outdoor space at the home of Janelle Watts. It was a perfect evening for the group to meet—this time with a little less booze (more boos!) and a few more chocolate chip cookies. Toni Erickson gave a demonstration on how a group headed by Kathy Cheek in PebbleCreek makes mats for the homeless using plastic bags. The rest of the evening was spent sharing book recommendations—what to read, what to skip—and passing along books to exchange.

Pictured are those who attended that evening, seated from left to right: Joanne Wrout, Patti Trapp, and Renee Fisher. Those standing behind them from left to right are: Toni Erickson, Janelle Watts, Cathe Pruyn, Jackie Bachmann, and Barb Downey.

Unit 62A October Happy Hour

Toni Erickson

The October Happy Hour for Unit 62A was held on Oct. 29 at the beautiful home and backyard of Mike and Patti Trapp (standing under umbrella). This special gathering welcomed back neighbors returning from summer travels and time spent at their seasonal homes. It was a wonderful evening to reconnect, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company after the busy summer months. The unit provided pizza and dessert, making for a delicious and relaxing evening together.

Those who attended, from left to right, were Lisa Reichert, Lynn Banks, Janelle Watts, Judy Meservey, Janet Henson, Barb Downey, Toni Erickson, Wendy Langhels, and Laurie Wyman.

Unit 62A Ladies Enjoy the Home Tour

Toni Erickson

Nine ladies from Unit 62A enjoyed dining together at the Eagles Nest Restaurant before heading out to the PebbleCreek Home Tour on Nov. 1. For $25 per person, participants toured six beautiful homes throughout the community, with all proceeds benefiting the City of Goodyear’s “Shop with a Cop” program. A special thanks goes to the gracious homeowners who opened their lovely homes and gardens for the tour, as well as to the many hosts and hostesses who volunteered their time to make the event a success.

October Ladies Lunch for 62A

Toni Erickson

The ladies of 62A ventured out close to our home base and went to Babbo’s off of McDowell Road on Oct. 9 for the October’s Ladies Lunch. The snowbirds have for the most part returned, and the group was a little larger this time. Those who were able to join in the monthly activity were, from left to right: Judy Meservey, Barb Downey, Toni Erickson, Janelle Watts, Bonnie Springer, Cathe Pruyn, Paula Hupka, Laurie Wyman, Marilyn Coates, and Pat Gonzales.

Good Times in Unit 62B

Marie Shubin

Good times can always be found in 62B, and the fourth ladies Hand, Knee & Foot tournament was no exception. Hosted at the beautiful home of Peggy Coon, the team of Nancy Moore, Kathy Morris, and Sharon Krudner put together a delicious salad luncheon that included homemade bread baked by Jim Morris. The October weather was perfect and with six tables of players, there was a lot of laughter throughout the afternoon! Taking home first prize with the best score were the partners Colleen McClung and Kay Don. Thanks to everyone for making it a great day!
