Unit 8 Ladies’ Luncheon
The ladies of Unit 8 had a wonderful time and great food as we beat the June heat at The Vic in Verrado. Our luncheon locales vary each month and the date changes based on the availability of the selected restaurant. Newcomers to and long-time residents of Unit 8 are all welcome to join us. For more information about Unit 8 activities, please contact Jane Holdcroft at [email protected].
Unit 34 Honors Our American Flag
Bob Young
We want to thank the Unit 34 Flag Committee (Don West, Judie Harden, Linda Rouillard, and Keith Constable) for placing an American flag on every mailbox in our Unit (56). As you can see, they also got some help from the “Energizer” Bunny seen here placing a few flags on a mailbox. Like the Energizer Bunny, the flags keep “going, and going, and going.” The weather conditions—heat and wind—made it a challenge, but they made it happen.
God Bless America
Unit 44 Beats the Heat
Jean Harris
While most of Unit 44 was traveling, snowbirding, or enjoying the air-conditioned indoors, a few brave souls gathered for a drop-in casual night at the Tuscany Falls outdoor pool. Master baker Ron Baron provided a delicious plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies, which cookie monsters quickly devoured. A few swam, all talked, and it was a good reminder of the friendships PebbleCreek can facilitate between neighbors. From left: Darrell Livingston, Ron and Debbie Baron with Jean Harris holding the cookie plate, Ken and Diane Russon, and Dan Harris. Dan and Jean Harris’s daughter, Tia, graciously took the photo.
Bingo! Unit 44 Winners!
Jean Harris
During a good way to beat the heat, a group of neighbors from Unit 44 enjoyed Music Bingo at Brookside II Sports Bar & Grille in Surprise, Ariz., recently. Dan Harris and Deb Fahey were big winners of a whopping $5 restaurant gift certificate each, good for future purchases at Brookside II. The winners presented their scorecards via mobile phones to collect their treasure. It was a fun night with friends and a good way to kick off summer in Arizona and visit before snowbirds flew north!
Unit 48 July 4th Party
Rochelle Zuckerbrow
Unit 48 gathered at the Oasis Pool for food, cocktails, and fun to celebrate July 4th. A big thanks to Nancy Turner for organizing such a fun party.
Unit 49A Breakfast Gathering
On June 17, Unit 49A enjoyed a breakfast at Eagle’s Nest.
Unit 58 Ladies’ Lunch at Country Griddle
Brenda Deckard, Unit 58 Activities Coordinator
Thirteen lovely ladies enjoyed a wonderful home-style lunch at the Country Griddle on June 20. Every dish that was served was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. The staff provided wonderful service and promptly attended to all requests. It was so good to enjoy each other’s company and a great meal at the same time!
Mexican Pile-On Meal
Toni Erickson
On June 13, Unit 62A enjoyed their monthly happy hour at the Oasis Pool. During the summer months, the neighbors enjoy the refreshing pool area for our happy hours. June was celebrated with the famous Mexican Pile-On Meal. We start with a bed of chips and continue to add all the fixings for a taco plate. Every attendee signs up for the ingredients through the SignUpGenius link. Those who attended are, from left to right: Janet Henson, Joanne Wrout, Tom and Jackie Bachmann, Janelle Watts, Renee Fisher, Maynard Lipp, Lynn Banks, Judy Meservey, Tim and Dale Scanlon, Ernie Henson, Laurie Wyman, Elmer Greenbank, Marilyn Coates, Gary Watts, Pat Gonzales, Barb Downey, Julie Greenbank, Bruce Banks, Bonnie Springer, Jerry Wrout, Steve Gonzales, Sheryl Lipp, John and Mary Geraghty, Jim Downey, Kathleen and Bruce Brown, Wendy and Rick Langhals, and Vic Coates. Unit 62A Jingle Bell June
Toni Erickson
“Jingle Bell June” was held on June 27 at the beautifully decorated home of Julie Greenbank. This event was celebrated in July last year as the Ladies “Christmas in July,” but due to busy schedules, the social committee creatively switched it to an affair in June. Each “Santa” who attended brought five individually wrapped gifts ($1.25 each) from the Dollar Tree store. The ladies played some fun games or stole gifts to see which gifts each one ended up with. Pictured from left to right and seated are Mary Geraghty, Jackie Bachmann, Dale Scanlon, Cathe Pruyn, Lynn Banks, Patti Trapp, Joanne Wrout, and Sheryl Lipp. Standing from left to right are Barb Downey, Laurie Wyman, Marilyn Coates, Janet Henson, Jackie MacKenzie, Renee Fisher, and Janelle Watts. Julie Greenbank, the photographer, and the hostess with the mostess served Rose Prosecco drinks to commemorate the festive holiday. Cheers to Julie and the ladies of Unit 62A!
Unit 62B Ladies at Augie’s Sports Grill
Judy Freidman
The ladies of Unit 62B enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Augie’s Sports Grill. We are keeping busy during the hot summer months with monthly luncheons, cards, bunco, well-attended book clubs, and happy hours at various homes.
