Unit 26 Ladies’ Luncheon

Gena Wikstrom

The ladies from Unit 26 met in March to enjoy camaraderie and great food and had the opportunity to welcome our newest resident, Cindy Whiffen. The monthly lunches are organized by Colleen McMaster and all ladies living in Unit 26 are invited to attend.

Unit 26 Welcomes New Neighbors

Gena Wikstrom

Unit 26 gathered at Bob and Gena Wikstrom’s home in March to welcome new neighbors moving in nearby during the last two months. It was great to make new introductions, and fun was had by all!

Unit 27A Meets at a Ball Game

Camille Grabb

Play ball! Unit 27A gathered on March 10 for their 6th Annual Spring Training Outing at the Goodyear Ballpark. The Cincinnati Reds hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks for a picture-perfect Arizona evening with friends, food, and fun. The Reds walked away with a win!

The right field pavilion was the perfect gathering place for the 30 neighbors to mingle and switch between tables and chairs … much more comfortable than those stadium seats. We could step up to the nearby private bar and even order food using the QR code on our phone and have it delivered to our table. No standing in long concession lines … this was sort of like “glamping” at the ballpark!

It was another great annual event bringing neighbors and friends together!

Unit 36 Block Party

50/50 raffle winner Susan Nadeau

Jan Frustaglia

Unit 36 held a potluck block party on 160th Drive on April 2. More than 65 people who were able to attend. There was plenty of delicious food and drink for all. The weather was great, and all had a good time mingling with neighbors. We adopted the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary/Kare Bears Food Drive as the charity to support. A 50/50 raffle was held. We had $202 in ticket sales. Susan Nadeau was the winner of the $101 raffle prize. Susan donated back $81 to the charity! Thank you! We were able to donate $182 to the food drive. Residents also donated non-perishable food. We would like to give a big thanks to all who attended, donated, and assisted in the setup and breakdown for the event. Looking forward to our next event!

Unit 40 Block Party

DeeDee Fast

On March 19, more than 50 friends and neighbors of Unit 40 met in the Earll Drive cul-de-sac for a block party. The social committee provided grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, and everyone else brought salads and desserts. The weather was perfect, and everyone loved being outside together to share a meal, play cornhole, catch up with friends, and meet new neighbors.

On March 11, residents of Unit 44 enjoyed a beautiful day at the ballpark. A group of 46 friends and neighbors celebrated in the third Floor Terrace Section of Goodyear Ballpark. We not only watched some exciting baseball, but also celebrated the birthday of our popular neighbor, Paul Fahey.

Our group enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet, a private bar (serving celebratory beverages), a 6th inning scoreboard recognition of PebbleCreek’s Unit 44, and of course, singing “Happy Birthday” followed by a yummy, specially decorated cake.

With the help of two 2 run home runs by both Jose Ramirez and Mike Zunino, “our” Cleveland Guardians beat the Oakland A’s 4-2 (for all those who were following the game).

The weather cooperated nicely, baseball was certainly the main topic of conversation (haha), and all in attendance had a fun, memorable afternoon.

Approximately 25 Unit 44 residents celebrated in fine Irish style at PebbleCreek’s Oasis Pool on March 13. Special thanks to Judy and Frank Gorski who hosted the monthly DOTP (Drinks on the Patio) with neighbors sharing a fantastic array of St. Patrick’s Day cuisine.

Judy, who has 100% Irish ancestry definitively has experience in entertaining for this special event. Residents enjoyed listening to festive Irish music and gladly consumed corned beef sandwiches, Irish boiled potatoes, cabbage, various salads, green charcuterie board, delicious green/mint desserts, etc. and of course the special beverages like Guinness beer and Bailey’s Irish Cream. Another fantastic, fun time was had by all.

On March 11, 53 residents from Unit 49A joined together at the bocce courts to play Fun Bocce. Residents signed up as a team of four, two, or one. Each team of four competed against another team. Six courts were used and different types of balls—from bocce balls to footballs, ping pong, golf, and soccer balls were rolled. There were lots of laughs as the wind picked up and would move the lighter balls around. One team said they lost a point because of the wind.

After every team played each court, the highest score of 15 points was awarded their medal. The team consisted of Mark Jackson, Ann Carder, Roger, and Jill. Second and third place teams were also awarded medals. Congratulations to our winners and to everyone that participated. Better practice for next year, as I’m already coming up with ideas.

Then it was time for the food. Everyone enjoyed a sandwich from Goodcents, chips, and ice cream for dessert.

Thank you to Dave and Janet Pritchyk, Mel George, and Caron McNicholas for assisting with setup and cleanup.

On March 28, the Activities Committee consisting of Laurie Wyman, Marilyn Coates, Barb Downey, Janelle Watts, and Julie Greenbank graciously hosted the volunteers of 62A who contribute behind the scenes to a luncheon at Verrado Grille. The volunteers who donate their time on a monthly basis include our Mayor of Sheridan who religiously keeps us all informed, Gary Bomar; Treasurer, Jackie MacKenzie; PebbleCreek Post Editor, Toni Erickson; Monday Hand Knee and Foot Cards, Joanne Wrout and Jackie Bachmann; Wednesday/Thursday Samba Cards, Jackie MacKenzie and Julie Greenbank; and Wednesday Women’s Golf, Lynn Banks. The Activities Committee meets monthly and provides a fun-filled calendar of events each month for Unit 62A. Undoubtedly, their combined efforts promote the neighborly closeness that this unit experiences.

Unit 62A March Trivia Night

Toni Erickson

On March 22, Unit 62A trivia brainiacs put their heads together at Augie’s Sports Grill to earn a very respectable 3rd place ranking amongst the many other teams competing. Representing Unit 62A, alias “Smarty Pants,” were Gary Watts, Lynn and Bruce Banks, Janelle Watts, Tom and Jackie MacKenzie, Marilyn and Vic Coates, Renee Fisher, and Laurie Wyman. The group gathered at 5:30 p.m. to enjoy beverages and dinner prior to their triumphant performance.
