Unit 44’s Bocce Ball Blast

The summer heat didn’t stop Unit 44 residents from getting together at the Eagle’s Nest bocce courts. Included in our group were some league-playing seasoned veterans along with some newbies experiencing bocce ball for the very first time. Ultimately there was some good competition, nail-biting close games, and excellent blocking, banking, bumping, tossing, bouncing, and rolling the balls toward that targeted, elusive pallino.

In addition to the fantastic action on the courts, we enjoyed some cool, refreshing beverages along with some delicious shared appetizers and desserts.

Thanks much to Scott and Deb Crabtree who organized this fun event for the 21 neighbors who participated.

Based on the successful outcome, bocce ball for Unit 44 residents has a bright future. Just like the balls we throw, the good times keep rolling strong in Unit 44!

Unit 52 Ladies Night Out

Liz Gibson

The Unit 52 Ladies Who Lunch had a fun change of pace on March 24 at 5:30 p.m., enjoying cocktails and a taco bar at Meg Chrisman’s.

The taco bar had a mix of chicken and beef, with complimentary margaritas. Then came dessert—churro cups and Jell-O shots—served by waiters Greg Magnuson, Jim Caudill, and Ed Chrisman, dressed in tuxes, black shorts, and cummerbunds that had a place for tips. They even provided a few moves to encourage better tips!

A party to remember for sure!

Unit 52 Oasis Potluck Party

Liz Gibson

About 40 Unit 52 party goers enjoyed an evening of swimming and dining on Friday, May 27, at the Oasis Pool. The party was from 5 to 9 p.m., and everyone brought a favorite homemade potluck dish and a meat to grill.

The party was a fun mix of long-time residents and some of the many new additions to our Unit. We are, as is the rest of PebbleCreek, happy to resume our social activities, which were missed last year.

The party was planned under the leadership of Social Chair Raejean Magnuson and her busy, active committee.

Queen Creek Olive Mill tour attendees included Jim Downey, Jackie Bachmann, Jerry and Joanne Wrout, Barb Downey, Wendy and Rick Langhals, and Janet and Ernie Henson.

Unit 62A – Queen Creek Olive Mill Tour

Toni Erickson

It was a bit of a drive, but the Queen Creek Olive Mill was well worth the ride. The family owned and operated Queen Creek Olive Mill has over 7,000 trees, in 16 varieties, and produces high-quality extra virgin olive oil. During the Olive Oil 101 class/tour, the group learned how they made their products, how it can be used in our kitchens, and why it’s so good for us! Their experts taught the tour group how to correctly taste olive oil and help you shop/taste your way through the gourmet marketplace following the class. The group dined for lunch at their Italian-inspired restaurant following the tour. The tour was highly recommended by those who attended.

The ladies who proudly wore their patriotic colors are (seated) Judy Meservey, Julie Greenbank, Barb Downey, Janelle Watts, (standing) Jackie MacKenzie, Mary Geraghty, Cathe Pruyn, Pat Gonzales, Renee Fisher, Betty Evans, Patti Trapp, Wendy Langhals, Joann Wrout, Dale Scanlon, Jackie Bachmann, and Marilyn Coates.

Memorial Day Hand, Knee, and Foot Cards

Toni Erickson

After World War I, Memorial Day became a national holiday for honoring the men and women who died in all of America’s wars. The ladies of Unit 62A recognized this day by wearing red, white, and blue attire while playing Hand, Knee, and Foot on May 30.
