Unit 51 Ladies Luncheon
Carol Adkins
Although many of our Canadian and snowbird friends and neighbors have already left for the summer, fifteen Unit 51 ladies met at Royal Jasmine for the last luncheon of the 2017 winter/spring season. Thanks to our hostesses Wendy Frumkin and Patti McEnerney for making the arrangements. Our luncheons will resume on September 14. Have a wonderful, safe summer!
Unit 52 Ladies Luncheon
Liz Gibson
The ladies of Unit 52 who do lunch were in for a pleasant surprise as they tried a new dining spot Wednesday, May 10. The Times Square Restaurant was wonderful with a large menu and great service. Hostess was Carol Liltz.
Our party unit is having a repeat of last year’s popular wine-tasting event at Total Wine on Sunday, June 11 and plans are underway for our annual October and December parties.
Unit 53 news
Sandy Stephens
Virginia Warden hosted the Unit 53 Ladies Luncheon at Romano’s Macaroni Grill in Litchfield Park on April 19. Twenty-one ladies got together to not only enjoy a tasty lunch but to catch up on their neighbors’ news.
Unit 53 Happy Hour
Sandy Stephens
Ann Orr hosted our unit Happy Hour on April 24 for about 30 of her neighbors. The weather was lovely so many got to enjoy spending time on the patio. Food was great as usual. Several people remarked on her jukebox so she fired it up for some good old time rock and roll music.
Unit 58 Ladies Luncheon
The Verrado Grill was the setting for the April Unit 58 Ladies Luncheon on Friday, April 21. Roberta Fiorino served as hostess with approximately 28 women in attendance. Table seating was determined by drawing a number out of a hat on arrival, allowing random seating and encouraging everyone to make the acquaintance of someone new.
Unit 58 Social Hour
Unit 58 held its April Social Hour at the home of Sue and George Bohl on Thursday, April 27th. Everyone enjoyed good food and even better company while visiting with old and new neighbors.
Unit 61 Cinco de Mayo event
Kathy Gorchesky
Unit 61 and friends celebrated Cinco de Mayo by welcoming a food truck to our streets. The details were perfectly handled by Pat Hacker and her hard working committee. The afternoon started with chips and salsa. Different Smokes BBQ brought the food truck and prepared delicious barbecue foods for 90. Preorders were obtained which made for easy service. Dessert was even created on the food truck. Neighbors were encouraged to wear festive dress. Several games were enjoyed while listening to fun, happy music. The games were Pin the Tail on the Donkey, bean bag toss and guess the gummy worms in the tequila bottle. Prizes were awarded to the lucky ones. Many laughs accompanied the food and fun in unit 61!
Unit 64
Unit 64 has all unit events twice a year. We chose the freshly opened Oasis Pool and Ramada for this spring’s get together. Some enjoyed the new resort-style pool even though the water was a bit chilly. Everyone brought food to share which we spread on the full length counter. The organizers were very happy to skip the table solicitation portion of event planning. There was even room for coolers underneath and outlets for crockpots. There were tables and chairs for both eating and conversation. The Ramada offered shade from the sun while breezes blew through the open walls making the temperature perfect. Many kudos went out to the designers of the space. But best of all we enjoyed the chance to reconnect with all our neighbors.
