Now that our fabulous fundraiser, our third annual fashion show and luncheon is over, we are still very busy. We elected new officers and chairwomen at our April meeting and they are the following: President Emma Mosley; Vice President Flora Conley; Treasurer Judy Layton; Corresponding Secretary Penny Schneider; Recording Secretaries Martha Bergman and Leslie Miller; Camp Co-Chairs Gloria Kornbluth and Judi Moore.
We also had a lovely ceremony to initiate Jill Lewis into our chapter.
Because of the 350 ladies who supported our luncheon and fashion show, we are sending an unprecedented eight deserving fourth grade girls to camp this year! On April 9 we shopped for all the equipment our eight girls will need for camp. This includes a sleeping bag, sheets, pillows, toiletries, towels, postcards, games, a camera and even a stuffed animal to cuddle at night, among many other things.
We had a shower for our campers and their families on April 30. Every one enjoyed pizza, soda and socializing. We showed our eight, delighted girls all the equipment we had bought for them. You can only imagine their excitement! On May 6 we will take our eight girls clothing shopping for their week of camp. They will get to pick out and try on all the clothing and shoes they will be wearing at camp. It makes the girls feel so special with so much attention being lavished on them during their shopping spree.
Our eight campers will be going to the Willow Springs Girl Scout Camp in Prescott the week of June 14. We will take them to the bus and give them everything that we’ve bought for them. This is their first overnight camping experience and many of them are a bit nervous to leave. We send them off with a hug and what a difference when we pick them up at the end of the week. They are all smiles and laughter and full of great stories to tell us.
Our last get together with our eight girl’s is July 25 when we hold a welcome back party for them and their families. They love to share their photos and memories of camp. TTT Chapter Q again wants to thank all our supporters. The girl’s camping experience wouldn’t be possible without your continued support year after year. And speaking of that, we are proud and excited to announce next year’s our fourth luncheon and fashion show. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 12, 2016! We look forward to seeing you then.
