On Dec. 21, Tom Mamrak made a hole-in-one on hole number 4 at Eagle’s Nest. He made it during a PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association (PCMGA) tourney. He was the last to qualify for sharing the 2023 PCMGA annual hole-in-one prize. As you can imagine, Tom was happy, but the other four qualifiers, not so much!
The 4h hole played 130 yards from the white tees to a front-center pin placement. In calm conditions, Tom hit his 9-iron right at the flag and his ball landed just on the green. It then rolled about 30 feet straight into the hole. His playing partners were Mike Daubenmier and Pat Prom. Mike yelled, “It’s in!” All three saw it go in. Tom described that Mike and Pat were just as excited as he was, as they had never witnessed a hole-in-one before. Congrats all around!
Tom has been playing golf for 40 years. This was his second career hole-in-one. His first one came on hole number 6 on the Wigwam Gold golf course in 2013.
Tom grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He worked for 40 years as a Power Lineman for Enmax, the local Calgary utility. He was also a member of the first line response team to restore power in emergency situations.
Like many Canadians, hockey was part of his life. He was a player, but he was also a referee. He worked as a ref for more than 20 years. He even refereed several professional games. He has some friends who currently ref in the NHL.
He and his wife, Shirley, spent many winters here in Phoenix. He purchased a home in PebbleCreek in 2015 and retired in 2023.
Congrats to Tom on his amazing shot as well as his recent retirement!
