In 2015, our camper was a shy fourth grader. Today she is a self-confident 19-year-old enjoying life as a young adult. Below are her own words on what the camping experience at Camp Willow Springs in Prescott, Ariz., did for her.
“When I left for camp, I was scared, homesick, and stayed by myself. However, within a day or two, the camp’s nurturing environment soon began to work its magic. I met some new friends and began to enjoy camping. I loved hiking, campfires, and group games. Hiking was a really cool experience. Camping improved my social skills, and I can now express myself with confidence. Communicating is joyful and making friends is easy.”
She also noted that interviewing for her first job was done with confidence.
Our camper’s story is a testament to the transformative power of positive social environments and the lasting impact of childhood experiences. She thanks Chapter P and the National T.T.T. Society for providing her with the opportunity to attend camp to learn new things and gain confidence.
Chapter P thanks the PebbleCreek community that supports our Poinsettia and Butter Braid fundraising efforts to make it possible to send fourth grade girls to summer camp at no cost.
