You read about this 100 Days of Summer Cardio Challenge last month and now is the time to get off the couch and out the door. Start logging your miles from now through Labor Day whether walking the dog, cycling the streets or swimming laps in the pool. Every mile counts on this 540 mile challenge which takes you on a virtual trek around Arizona. And, take comfort knowing you are not alone is this quest for fitness as others in the community are doing it with you.
Record your miles on the log sheets provided at the Eagle’s Nest and Tuscany Falls Fitness Centers and monitor your progress on the State of Arizona map posted on the TF Fitness Center bulletin board. Incentive prizes are awarded at distinct mile markers that will keep you moving forward toward completion.
Need some extra incentive? Join me (Melissa, your recreation director) on a leisurely 10 mile bicycle ride around PebbleCreek on Thursday mornings throughout the month of June (June 5, 12, 19 and 26). We’ll depart from the TF Fitness Center at 9:00 a.m. and loop around through Eagle’s Nest and Tuscany Falls taking in the sites along the way. Be sure to bring water!
Make this your summer of fitness. Whether you complete the full 540 mile challenge (700 with the Grand Canyon optional loop) or only a portion therein; take pride in your accomplishment. It’s all about the journey.
