On Sept. 25, the Tennis Club had their first full club social in 18 months. We all had a lot of catching up to do. The event was hosted by Jerry and Jill Santy at the Tuscany Falls Tennis Hut. Light snacks and beverages were served as we listened to the music of the John Flynn Trio. It was a special afternoon for all the attendees.
President Shelley Bain thanked all for coming and let us know that our club events are ramping up again. She reminded us to look forward to future socials and in-house tournaments.
The attendees were so excited to see members who have been out of town for the summer, leading to lively conversations full of laughter and smiles. I overheard someone say that it has been too long since we’ve been together, and they hope that these events will continue regularly once again.
The afternoon was sunny and a little on the warm side. We had over 70 members join us as we sang along to some of our favorite oldies as the afternoon progressed. Jerry Santy navigated the 50/50 drawing with lots of carnival barker techniques. The lucky winner was Mary Zanella, and she graciously donated back to the club $40. The runner-up was Robert Pinto, and he received a nice bottle of cabernet sauvignon to enjoy after his tennis games.
The club is grateful for all the members who helped set up in the heat and the many hands that made the cleanup run smoothly and quickly. The adage “many hands make for light work” was proven over and over again. Thank you, members!
Here’s a quick reminder of our upcoming events: Mixed Doubles or Nothing Tournament on Nov. 13, annual Holiday Dinner Dance on Dec. 6, and Holiday Tournament on Dec. 11. All information can be found on the PebbleCreek Tennis Club website: pebblecreektennis.org. Sign up early as spots go quickly!
