The Sewing Club’s November community service project was adding embellishments to the quilted fabric mats made by the PebbleCreek Quilters. These are known as Fidget Mats and are given to various organizations for people with Alzheimer’s or other cognitive challenges. Fidget Mats are lap quilts, the size of oversized placemats, designed to stimulate and soothe people by using different textures to feel, and things to open and close, to keep their hands busy by providing a soothing and stimulating activity.
The PebbleCreek Sewing Club meets on Wednesdays for open sewing in the Diamondback Room of the Creative Arts Center. All are welcome to come sew. For further information, contact Kathy Brown at [email protected].
