Scottsdale Chorus will delight at February 28 performance

On Saturday, February 28, LifeLong Learning is bringing the four time International Champions of Sweet Adelines, the award winning 100 member Scottsdale Chorus, to the Renaissance Theatre.

The Scottsdale Chorus is affiliated with the Sweet Adelines International organization, which is dedicated to promoting a cappella, four-part harmony, barbershop style music through education, competition and performance.

Expect an astounding sound as the notes combine into chords that thrill. Add in the visual delights of stunning costumes and innovative choreography. Mix this together with a variety of songs and you’ll know why this chorus has been entertaining in Arizona for over fifty years.

Chorus members rehearse weekly to perfect the music and dance that frequently has audiences leaping to their feet with hearty Bravos! Their exuberant director, Lori Lyford, a lifetime music educator, is the choral director at Chandler High School. She is also one of the most sought after coaches in the barbershop genre, conducting training seminars and coaching sessions throughout the United States and abroad. She will be sharing insights into the art of singing as we enjoy this thoroughly entertaining concert.

The chorus celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2012 and has competed in 16 International contests since 1974, never achieving less than third place. Their competitive spirit and commitment to musical excellence has led them to the coveted First Place International Championship four times: 1984, 1989, 2006 and 2011.

The limited number of $15 tickets remaining may be purchased at the door at Monday Morning Lectures or by calling Diane Jakobs at 623-825-0986.
