Roadrunners Corvette Club roadtrip to Canyon Lakes

Ron Miller and Ted Jensen

This sound was heard once again as the Goodyear and PebbleCreek Roadrunners Corvette Club hit the road for another great spring road rally.

Saturday, April 8. Twenty-six of us in 13 corvettes rallied single file to the quaint little outpost of Tortilla Flats hidden in the Superstition Mountains. After enjoying lunch outside in a covered courtyard while being entertained by the Tortilla Flat Band, we continued to motor two miles down the road to Canyon Lake.

Waiting for us were advanced reservations for an afternoon cruise on the Dolly Paddlewheel Steamboat.

A group of about 80 patrons boarded the vessel to enjoy the extremely interesting facts of our tour guide as we navigated through the twists and turns of Canyon Lake. Views of bighorn sheep, bald eagles and petrified wood cores emblazoned in the cliff walls are but a few of the experiences enjoyed by the club members.

We concluded the tour after 1 1/2 hours of scenic beauty and disembarked for the windy road trip back to Goodyear. It was a memorable day with great photos and good times shared by all.

We look forward to exciting times on our next rally on our Arizona highways.
