What an amazing way to kick off the first meeting since summer break! Over 315 members and guests crowded the Tuscany Falls Ballroom on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. There was electricity in the air as the capacity crowd filled the room to hear Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz and our own Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar speak on the issues that are facing the U.S. House of Representatives and our country, as well as how they plan to address them when they return from the summer hiatus next week.
Congressman Gaetz made a special trip from Florida just to address our club! He said he wanted to hear, firsthand, what Americans like us think and feel about the issues and what is most important to us. How rare it is that a congressman who has no stake in getting elected by his audience would selflessly give of his time!
The grateful crowd clung to every word as he and Congressman Gosar spelled out the challenges they will be dealing with such as out of control government spending, the national debt, inflation, the ongoing war in Ukraine, the porous southern border, and the weaponized justice system. The room burst with applause every time the two congressmen hit the hot button of issues that most affect our members and our country. After speaking, both congressmen spent time taking questions from the audience until well after 8:15 p.m., after which they graciously posed for photos with members and continued to field questions until it came time to relinquish the room.
The reaction from our members and guests was that this was one of the best meetings our club has had. They were thrilled to know that one of their favorite Republican Congressmen from across the country would take the time to make that long trip just to speak to them. It says so much about the character of Congressman Gaetz and Congressman Gosar, who was instrumental in making this event a reality.
