PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association’s first of three sessions for this year came to an anti-climactic end as the undefeated Questar team topped AZ Royal on Saturday, December 10. Questar scored five runs in the last inning to win nine to four.
With the growth of the league to 13 teams this year, the Board of Directors instituted a three-session year of 12 games each. Questar’s record is 11-0-1 for this session. Under the leadership of Manager Paul Zuckerbrow and his assistants Bob Schrader and Mark Monen, the team overcame many challenges to their lead – often taking the win in the last inning. With solid pitching and tight defense, each win came down to the team’s hitting prowess. The one tie game came in the second week and since then Questar gelled as a winning team.
The second session of 12 games restarts all 13 teams with 0-0 records – each with an equal chance now. Will last year’s champions Augie’s (3-9) make a comeback this session? Is it second place AZ Royal’s (9-3) time to strike back? Or will Questar continue to dominate. Twelve teams will get a chance to take them on starting December 13 and running to February 4 for this session (with a break the last two weeks in December).
