Since the pickleball courts in PebbleCreek were shut down in March, some players used their ingenuity to create their own personal pickleball facilities.

Renee deLassus set up a portable net and plays pickleball in the garage. Renee said, “It’s important to stay busy and active. The dog is only willing to go on so many walks in a day, so we have had to resort to garage pickleball. It’s too narrow to play for real but we can play dink and volley games. It’s still fun!”

Mike Schwartz reported, “Since the pickleball courts are closed, I’m excited that I figured out how to use my patio so that I can continue playing. I set up my portable pickleball net and with the help of some sidewalk chalk I now have a regulation kitchen, aka NVZ (non-volley zone), on each side of the net. My wife and I are enjoying daily dinking games. Also, by going out further into the yard, we can now practice our third shot drops over the net. This has converted our cabin fever into PE (pickleball euphoria) sessions. It has also added new meaning to the question ‘Hey, hon, do you want to go out today?’”

Darlene Walker created a pickleball net using two chairs and a metal pole. Darlene and her husband Steve have been practicing in their garage. Nancy Popenhagen also set up a portable pickleball net on her patio. Coupled with a ball machine, this is the perfect place for drilling and maintaining skills.
