At the October 11 annual Pickleball Club meeting the membership voted in a new Executive Committee for 2016. Elected were Pat Murphy, president, Fred Biancardi, vice-president, Ann Faber, officer-at-large, Bonnie Relic, secretary and Renee deLassus, treasurer. The meeting took place in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom with approximately 150 members attending.
The members often applauded the 2015 Executive Committee members for their hard work: Mike Crabtree, president, Pat Murphy, vice-president, Bob Oswald, officer-at-large, Jules Cardinale, secretary and Gordon Cooper, treasurer.
Outgoing President Mike Crabtree gave special thanks to the hardworking volunteers, the backbone of the club which boasts more than 1,100 members.
The members also approved a $20,000 capital expenditures budget and maintained annual dues at $20.
The 2015-2016 playing year has gotten off to a smashing success.
The Ladies’ (Thursdays) and Gentlemen’s (Fridays) ladders continue to draw the more competitive players and those who want to increase their skills under tournament-like tensions.
Novice training is available every Friday.
Weekly three different levels of training (Skills and Drills) are offered.
Innumerable club tournaments are available and in February will see an inaugural USAPA sanctioned tournament that will include players who do not live in PebbleCreek.
Also continuing at a rapid pace are the round-robins for skill levels 2.5 to 5.0 for both men and women. And there are also mixed round-robins.
Drop-in play is offered daily along with the opportunity to reserve a court.
Clinics are held periodically where outside tournament competitors share their skills with club members.
Each week offers a TGIF Social, a neat place to make new friends.
The month of December 2015 concluded with the Toys for Tots social (entry fee was at least one toy for an underprivileged child) and a mixed-doubles tournament.
