Hi! My name is Victor! I am an 8-year-old Papillon. I was born in the state of Washington and my roommates were other dogs and cats. I seldom saw my mommy and daddy, who were prize winners. On a rainy night, two men appeared and they wanted me. They held me in their arms and didn’t care that there wasn’t a white blaze on my head. When the rain subsided, they took me for a walk. I was so excited and kept looking back at them to make sure they were real.
On the airplane, I kept popping my head out of the travel crate, and people cheered and laughed. I might have been showing off a little. Soon, I was warm and dry in La Quinta, California. Arriving at the door of my forever home, the white and sable Leonardo and a Sheltie-looking Papillon named Gabriella greeted me with loving excitement. Gabriella was my new sister. Leonardo told me that our family had just lost their beloved Michelangela recently. Her face was on their pillows. She could barely walk but my heart already loved and understood her. I was a lot more hyper than Michelangela.
My play times with my daddy, Steve Burns, were fantastic. He would hide the ball between his feet. I was so proud that I got the ball more times than Leonardo did. Soon, we moved to a new forever home in Goodyear, Arizona, at PebbleCreek. In this new wonderland, I enjoy looking for bunny rabbits. Sometimes I growl at a coyote too. I chase the rabbits around my backyard but I’ve never caught them.
Sadly, we lost my big brother, Leonardo, in November of 2020. I was very broken-hearted, but suddenly music played from our “Marilyn” telephone. My daddies, Gary Spero and Steve Burns, said that it was Michelangela telling us that Leonardo was now with her on the rainbow bridge.
On Christmas Eve, my dads found a new handsome and almost all–white Papillon who needed a forever home. Although I still felt the loss of Leonardo, it felt great to give my new brother a chance to live in this home filled with love. He was my Christmas miracle! I taught him the same games and traditions we did before with Leonardo. Unfortunately, we lost my only sister, Gabriella, who suffered from Cushing’s disease, in November of 2021. I guess I was both cursed and blessed with my most loyal, caring heart.
When my daddy, Steve, takes me for a walk on the leash, I look out at the seniors who live here. Their grasp onto life shows their fervor and passion. I believe that those who I love who are not with us anymore are very much with us in spirit. I hope you liked reading about my life, because I still yearn to forge ahead.
