Goodyear City Council member Wally Campbell is one of three state leaders appointed to serve on the Community Information and Referral Services Board of Directors, the state provider of Arizona 2-1-1 and Homeless Management Information Services (HMIS).

Campbell, who has served on Goodyear City Council since 2011, was appointed to serve on the 11 member board with other new board members Coconino County Treasurer Sarah Benatar and Crisis Response Network President and CEO Justin Chase.

A nonprofit organization, Community Information and Referral Services (CIR) was founded in 1964 with a mission to connect Arizonans to health and human services in their communities. CIR provides referral services in many areas: employment services, military and veterans services, healthcare, utility assistance, food/meals, transportation, child immunizations and domestic violence and homeless shelters.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the board of directors of this great organization,” said Campbell, who serves on numerous board and organizations. “Community Information and Referral Services provides a lot of social service referrals to thousands of people in need. It goes to show the number of people in Arizona who need a hand up or assistance in many different areas. It’s astounding all this organization does to help people in need.”

CIR, which also is supported by many community and corporate organizations, currently refers to over 36,000 services provided by participating agencies and community programs and assisted Arizona residents with more than one million service requests during its 2014 Fiscal Year that lasted from July 1, 2013, to June 30, 2014.

Adrienne Howell, Administrator of Consumer Affairs for Southwest Gas Corporation, serves as the president of CIR’s Board of Directors and Catherine Rea serves as CEO of the Board.

Donations to CIR are always welcome and tax deductible. The Maricopa County office of CIR is located at: 2200 N. Central Avenue, Suite 211, Phoenix, Arizona 85004-1431.
