Our PCM9GA group conducted its first of the summer season weekly tournaments on Thursday, May 28 utilizing our Tuscany Falls course with a strong 68 member participation considering the fact that many of our snowbird members have already departed to more temperate areas. As of May 21 our PCM9GA events have so very fortunately reverted to our 7:30 a.m. tee off time which is a blessing that we can complete our nine holes of golf quite comfortably long before the sizzling Arizona heat takes hold.

For this event we reverted to the Cha-Cha-Cha Tournament format which, while not to be confused with the Latin American dance step, is actually a format that utilizes the net scores of from one to three foursome team members based upon the golf hole being played. Therefore, for holes 1, 4 and 7, one team member’s net score was used and for holes 2, 5 and 8 and then 3, 6 and 9 respectively two and three team member scores were compiled to make up the aggregate nine hole net score for each team. As it turns out the most challenging hole on the Tuscany Falls course unquestionably is hole 9 and as anticipated proved to be quite decisive in the determination of the winning foursomes since three team member net scores were used for hole 9. The best scoring foursomes did very well as a team on both hole 5 and hole 9. Likewise, a few foursomes ran amuck on both these PAR five holes and were quickly eliminated from any remote chance of winning. All and all the weather was quite comfortable and everyone enjoyed this outing immensely.

After the event we all gathered on the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse patio to announce the winners and socialized as usual following all our weekly events. Kudos to the winning foursomes and Closest to the Pin Winners as follows:

First place 58: Chris Mucha, Randy Prinz, Dave Baseheart, Ron Dickerson

Second place 59: Larry Gleason, Connie Neeley, Al Lowe, Willard Pearson

Third place 59: John Brown, Tom Pizzello, Stan Fuller, Ziggy Butkiewicz

Closest to Pin Winners: Bill Hill and Rich Schmidt

For the next few months our exciting event schedule includes the newly created and first time ever joint PCM9GA/PCMGA Mixer Tournaments to be held on June 11 and July 23 and later in the early fall on September 30, our highly anticipated fifth annual Mixer Tournament with the PCL9GA will be conducted.

As always, we highly urge new interested members to join our fun-loving group which welcomes golfers at all skill levels.
