PebbleCreek Quilters strive to promote fellowship among quilters and inspire and share knowledge with each other. This sanctioned PebbleCreek club began more than 25 years ago, and records reflect that in February 1996, club members held a “Basics of Quilting” class to teach beginners basic quilting techniques.
Fast forward to 2022 and we are pleased to announce the completion of another Quilting Academy 101, with a graduating class of 13. Each student was taught basic quilting techniques and completed a Friendship Stars Quilt measuring 69” x 69”—from start to finish!
During the six class sessions, students learned how to choose fabrics, follow pattern instructions, sew accurate quarter-inch seams, piece and assemble their quilt top, add the batting and backing, machine quilt, and bind their quilt.
Graduating students were Jeri Allen, Jaki White, Lori Dougherty, Robin White, Carol Mungas, Margo Powell, Laurie Scott, Cynthia Nunn, Chris Schwartz, Becky Scherping, Terri Lovell, Brenda Weide, and Lisa Reichert.
Carole Schumacher was the instructor for the class, and each student was assigned a mentor to assist them throughout the process. Thanks to our mentors: Debbie Arsenault, Carla Peccianti, Donna Wisnoski, Sandy Crabtree, Marlene Kuskie, Julie Baird (education committee liaison), Karen Winn, Helen Phillips, Jackie Cameron, Ann Steiner, JoEllen Cruze, Mary Ann Boffey, and Kathy Brown.
If you would like to join the PC Quilters, all it takes to join is an interest in quilting or simply socializing with other quilters. We offer many classes and workshops and support charities throughout the West Valley, through donations of handmade items to assist those in need. Congratulations to our 2022 graduates!
