PebbleCreek Pool Players 8-Ball Showdown with Buckeye Legends

Dan Harris, travel team coordinator

On Sept. 17, the PebbleCreek Billiards Club (PCBC) welcomed the Buckeye Legends (BL) back for an 8-ball showdown at PebbleCreek’s Salerno Billiards Room. And, just like last month, PCBC took one match and BL took the other. But this time both matches were won by the slimmest of margins.

The first match was a one-on-one 8-ball series. Each of PCBC’s four players faced BL’s four players twice, resulting in a 32-game contest. PCBC secured a 17-15 victory. PCBC’s Lynn Warren led all players by winning seven of his eight games, while BL’s Joe Frederico led his team with five wins out of eight.

The second match was a ranked head-to-head format, pairing players based on their first-match wins, for four standard 8-ball games. BL rallied back and claimed a 9-7 victory. The mojo that PCBC’s Lynn Warren had in the first match faded, as two scratches when shooting the 8-ball unfortunately helped BL’s Joe Frederico win all four of his games against Lynn. Harold Erker was PCBC’s top player in the second match, as he won three of his four games.

Both clubs enjoyed the friendly and competitive atmosphere and are eager for next month’s match.
