Auditions for 2023 Spring Production
Judi Blankenship
“Murdered to Death,” by Peter Gordon, will run from March 8 through 11, 2023.
This is the first in the “Inspector Pratt” trilogy of spoofs in the best Agatha Christie ”whodunit” genre traditions, guaranteed to delight. The play introduces the inept and bungling Inspector Pratt, who battles against the odds and his own incompetence to solve the murder of the house’s owner. It soon becomes clear that the murderer isn’t finished yet, but will the miscreant be unmasked before everyone else has met their doom?
There are 10 characters assembled in a country manor house in the 1930s, including Mildred, the wealthy owner of Bagshot House and her doting niece Dorothy. You can never have a good mystery without a butler, and this one is Bunting. Guests arriving for dinner are the English Colonel Charles Craddock with the prerequisite stiff upper lip and his wife Margaret Craddock, his long-suffering acerbic wife; a shady French art dealer named Pierre Marceau and his moll Elizabeth Hartley-Trumpington; Joan Maple, a well-meaning local sleuth who seems to attract murder; and Inspector Pratt, the bumbling local inspector and his sidekick Constable Thomkins.
The plot thickens and they’re all here, caught up in the drama. But will the murderer be unmasked before everyone else has met their doom, or will audiences die laughing first?
Auditions for the performance will be:
