PebbleCreek Live On Stage

Jane Cook and her backstage crew

ShowTime’s “The General” Retires

Laurie Farquhar

After more than 20 years, ShowTime’s “The General” is retiring. Jane Cook, who has been the backstage manager for every ShowTime production since 2000, is hanging up her headset so that she can now enjoy all the musicals and musical revues as a member of the audience.

Jane first joined ShowTime in 1999 as a performer, before moving to the backstage crew. As the stage manager, her job has been to coordinate getting all the set pieces and props on and off stage during each performance, as well as to make sure all the actors, singers, and dancers are in their places at the right time. It is a responsibility that takes a lot of organization and discipline, hence the nickname “The General.”

Of the 40-plus productions on which she worked, Jane says her favorite show was White Christmas. ShowTime’s recent production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was her last run as stage manager.

If you enjoy singing and reside in PebbleCreek, you may be a perfect candidate for joining the PebbleCreek Singers. We’re looking for all voice parts: sopranos, altos, tenors, basses, and baritones, but especially tenors, basses, and baritones. Reading music is very helpful, but if you can match a tone, it’s not totally necessary. There is an easy audition, and you can arrange it by calling Nancy Gustafson at 623-215-3292 for more details. If you are interested, you can pick up an application form at the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse, across from the pro shop. Now is the time to become a member of our musical family.

PebbleCreek Singers Thanks Community

Diane Piehl

The holidays are behind us, but the memories linger on. The PebbleCreek Singers would like to thank our community for the support of our holiday concert, Holiday Fanfare. It was wonderful to be singing as a chorus for you again, our neighbors and friends, on new risers, under the leadership of Director Jerry Drake and his team of capable section leaders.

Now on to spring and our next concert, Let There Be Music. Mark your calendars for April 28, 29, and 30, 2022. We wouldn’t want you to miss the fun!
