The Chianti Room in the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse was filled with 100 members of the  and friends who, in the spirit of the season, brought the Winter Wonderland event to life on Dec. 5. We enjoyed great food, music, dancing, and fellowship. The annual event was especially welcome after the cancellation last year and a year of no events involving personal contact until the club meetings began in October. So, Social Committee Chair Frankie Veltri and her committee members really deserved the rousing round of appreciative applause they received from the event attendees.

On Nov. 27, more than two dozen club members attended the Motown Sound of the Miracles holiday concert at the Musical Instrument Museum. The concert, which featured 90 minutes of the Miracles’ hits from the 60s, including “Ooo, Baby Baby,” “Shop Around,” “The Tracks of My Tears,” “Love Machine,” and many traditional holiday songs. The rollicking, high-energy performance had the audience keeping time in their seats while the braver ones were dancing in the aisles. After the show, folks gathered for dinner at the Seasons 52 Restaurant and spent time getting to know each other a little better. Two couples at one table found that they were Harley enthusiasts and shared pictures of their past rides.

The club continues to support the less fortunate in our community. Our November donations to the Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank included 75 pounds of food, 240 pounds of turkey, and $1,145 in cash contributions. We also donated 127 pounds of bedding and other items to Hope’s Closet and 177 pounds of men’s clothing to the Phoenix Mission. In October, we contributed hundreds of books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines to the five locations in the Maricopa County jail system.

The next meeting of the PebbleCreek Democratic Club is Jan. 5, 2022, in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m., featuring the director of economic development for the city of Goodyear, Lori Gray. Club activities are in full swing, including the new singles’ group starting in January, welcome events for new members, dinner/dances, shows, and our various game nights. As the political year heats up, we will enjoy hearing from candidates for various offices and from experts regarding various initiatives that will be on the November 2022 ballot, as well as registering voters and participating in campaigns.

Our meetings are open to all. Those interested are welcome to visit our website at pcdemclub.org, where there is also an application for membership. We wish you, your family, and friends a very happy and healthy new year.
