It’s the peak of the primary season when candidates are working hard to let voters know who they are and collect petition signatures and $5 donations if they are running as clean candidates (no corporate or PAC contributions).
The March meeting of the PC Dem Club brought more than 150 members to hear Aaron Connor, candidate for Maricopa County Assessor, the first Democrat to run for the office in more than 25 years; Dr. Geraldine Peten, currently serving as the State House Representative for LD 4 (our next door neighbor); Mariana Sandoval, candidate for State House Representative for LD 13; and Lori Ortega, Arizona Education Association, to speak about “Invest in Education,” the initiative the teachers are trying to get put on the ballot in November.
In addition, the club held a mock presidential preference vote, but of course, the results are not public unless you were in attendance at the meeting. The club grew by ten new members that night, putting us well over 330 members.
Meetings are open to all and are held the first Wednesday night of each month, with the social hour at 6 p.m. and the meetings starting at 7 p.m. For more information on all upcoming events, please visit PCDemClub.org.
