The PebbleCreek Democratic Club (PCDC) held its first meeting of the New Year on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Our speaker that evening was Darcy Renfro, PhD, Director, The Arizona We Want Institute, an initiative of the Center for the Future of Arizona (CFA). The CFA was established in 2002 by Dr. Lattie Coor, President Emeritus of Arizona State University and University of Vermont and Dr. Sybil Francis, a public policy architect with leadership experience at the White House Office of Technology Policy and The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, to provide impartial analyses, drive collaborative, multi-sector partnerships and identify long-term solutions to the most challenging issues of our time. The Arizona We Want initiative helps catalyze the public will needed to make the citizen goals of economic prosperity, quality of life and active civic engagement a reality. You can find out more about this fascinating organization on their website, ArizonaFuture.org.
At this meeting the club received nominations for the 2017-2018 year and elected a new Executive Board comprised of Dru Bacon, president, Robert Conley, vice president, Judy Hart, secretary and Carl Schatz, treasurer. Outgoing President Bart Alford and Secretary Irene Manalili were presented with a small gift and thanked for their outstanding service during the preceding two years.
Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Our guest speakers are Bob Burns, Commissioner, Arizona Corporation Commission and Joe Pizillo, council member, City of Goodyear, Arizona.
On Friday, January 20, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. the PC Democratic Club will once again host a special Candidates Night Forum in the Tuscany Falls Chianti Room.
