PebbleCreek Art Club – November 2026

Ann Tansey

Thank you to the PebbleCreek Art Club for this recognition as the Artist of the Month.

As a youngster growing up in Ferguson, Missouri, I did a lot of drawing, often illustrating custom Christmas or Easter cards to send to my Aunt and Uncle. In my early years, my art experiences began when I took an oil painting class at a local art store.

Going to Aquinas Catholic High school gave me opportunities to shine. A small school with a graduating class of 400, the single art teacher taught four art class levels. I was able to explore line drawing, collages, painting, printmaking, copper enameling, and an introduction to both batik and commercial art.

Later, while completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, I enjoyed drawing nudes with conté crayons during core drawing classes as well as still life drawing studies. Photography was one of my absolute favorite subjects, which led to a position in a professional studio. My printmaking coursework included lithography and wood cuts.

My creative path continued as I returned to night school and earned my certification as a K-12 art teacher. I spent three years as a substitute teacher, including two summers teaching summer school. Giving back to the community was equally important to me; for more than 20 years, I volunteered with the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri to lead their Smokey Bear art contest. I also volunteered as a grade school art teacher for each of my three children’s classes.

I met my husband at a dance sponsored by a university alumni group. We lived in the St. Charles, Missouri, area for 38 years before relocating to Arizona. My three children are successful: Ryan is a software solution architect; Jeff is a software engineer and artist, and my daughter Rebecca is a dentist. My husband Mike and I retired to PebbleCreek in 2020. Since joining the Creative Arts Center, I’ve had a wonderful time focusing my artistic efforts on oil painting and fused glass projects.

My favorite art activity is oil painting of animals. I have painted many subjects including birds, foxes, and cats (tigers, leopards, various jungle cats, and jaguar), as well as many desert landscapes.

Do you recognize this man? It’s Mark Kloverstrom, husband of Candis Kloverstrom, who painted this portrait displayed in the 2025 Art Show and Sale. Candis is on the cover of the October VIVA, recognized for her artwork on scripture, the life of Jesus, and faith.

November 13 Art Show and Sale

Emily Grotta

You never know which piece will move you.

The Fall Art Show and Sale of works by some of PebbleCreek’s most talented artists is an event you don’t want to miss. With art in every medium, covering subjects near and far, you will want to spend a full hour contemplating the works and perhaps find one that you really need to take home.

The Art Club limits attendance each hour of the show so that you can browse the gallery at your own pace, unencumbered by crowds. Enjoy your free wine, the live music, and the peaceful hour among great art—without leaving home

PebbleCreek. You can reserve up to six free admissions for one of the four hours of the show.

Once again, demand is high for the show, so, if you have not yet reserved a spot, please go to pcartclubshows.com/show-tickets. When you are on the site, you can see which artists will be displaying their work in each category: acrylic, oil, watercolor, colored pencil, drawing, pastel, mixed media, and 3D. There are also categories for professional artists who also sell their works in galleries or other outlets, and an emerging artist category for those who never entered the art show before.

Please open the tab for the raffle baskets (pcartclubshows.com/show-tickets) so you can see which you’d like to take home—see accompanying article for more information.

The Art Club offers many classes and events for those interested in painting in various mediums and drawing. Free open studio, workshops, and social events for members are offered throughout the year.

Your $25 membership gives you a $20 discount on all classes. Why not try it out? See pcartclub.com.

Love wine? Then you will love Basket 6: “The Perfect Pour.” Buy 40 tickets for $20 and place all of them in that basket.

Sponsors Make the Art Show Possible

Emily Grotta

As is the case with other events in PebbleCreek, the Fall Art Show and Sale would not be possible without the support of vendors who serve many PebbleCreek residents. If you see or patronize these sponsors, please thank them for their support.

These vendors make our homes more comfortable and safe. They take care of our landscapes, fix our roofs and golf carts, install solar systems and build additions that expand our living space. They also care for our wellbeing with personal and medical services. They help us sell or buy a home, provide financial advice, help plan our vacations, and much more.

One vendor, Kenetico of Phoenix, is once again donating an under-sink water purifier with free installation for one of the six raffle baskets worth $750 to $1,500. Dr. Wheeler, with offices in Goodyear and Buckeye, is a regular supporter of the club. And many other local companies donate to our baskets, including Total Wine, Flemings Steak House, and Bacchus Wine & Debauchery. If you haven’t had a chance to look at the baskets and purchase raffle tickets, please go to pcartclubshows.com, where you can also reserve up to six free admissions to the show.
