In previous articles we’ve kept you informed of the history of the PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association (PCSSA), opening day traditions, and the camaraderie that exists between the players in this league.
At this time, we would like to take a moment and recognize those players that achieved fifteen and twenty years of playing this game. These individuals make up a unique fraternity that shows that no matter your age or ability, they still enjoy the game that they started playing when they were just kids playing little league baseball or pick- up games. In fact, they are still kids at heart. These players have one thing in common and that is they have a twenty-year-old brain telling a seventy year plus old body “you can do this” and the body responds by telling the brain “get ready to feel the pain.”
As former major league pitcher Jim Bouton once said, “You spend a good piece of your life gripping a baseball and in the end, it turns out that it was the other way around all the time.”
The above photo reflects twenty-five players that achieved and surpassed the fifteen year mark.
