Monte Page is the current Director of Player Development for the PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association. In a recent interview, Monte provided the following information about himself as well as his duties as a Board member:
“I was born and raised in Vancouver, Washington. Graduated from Fort Vancouver High and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Served 36 months in Army and then attended Portland State University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a teaching certificate. Followed my brother Gary to PebbleCreek, buying a home in 2001 but not becoming a full-time resident until July 2013.”
“I worked for the Department of Defense for 30 plus years with the Oregon Air National Guard. At the same time I was a member of the Air National Guard serving with the 142 Fighter Wing. I retired as a Chief Master Sargent with 36 years of military service. My last assignment prior to moving to PebbleCreek was for four years at the Air National Guard Headquarters located at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland just outside Washington, DC. My position was Chief of Occupational Safety where I was responsible for the safety of 107,000 plus members of the Air National Guard.”
“I’m glad to be playing softball again. I hadn’t played for over 20 years prior to moving to PebbleCreek. We have a great group of guys and gals playing in the league and one of the best softball facilities in the Phoenix area. Not only am I on the Board but I also am a team manager this year which keeps me busy, but I love it. I have a great group of guys on my team and I love working with the other board members.”
As the league’s Director of Player Development, Monte establishes league registration schedules for both regular and spring league, oversees the committee and team managers’ process for player ratings and placement on teams, locates pre-season practice field availability and coordinates pre-season and Robson Field season practice schedules with team managers. He also acts as Board liaison to both the player balancing and rules committees.
Monte is a very valuable member of the league as a person, manager and Board member. His efforts to insure that the responsibilities of the league’s Director of Player Development are met are much appreciated.
