PCSSA and the Year Ahead

Fred Dresser

The new year has started and the holidays are once again behind us.

Calendar year 2024 saw the PebbleCreek Senior Softball Association (PCSSA) start their 30th season of softball here in PebbleCreek. It also saw the passing of players who played and loved this game. The PCSSA is a tight knit group of individuals that support each other throughout the year.

January sees the 30th season well underway.

February arrives and many of the teams have their sights set on making it into the playoffs scheduled for March.

March will see the 30th season come to an end with league champions being crowned. Let the bragging begin! Planning for the Spring Season and draft will commence. Also this month it’s time to hit it straight as the PCSSA annual golf outing will occur and the players participating attempt to hit a ball that is considerably smaller than the 12-inch softball that they normally try to hit. Needless to say, there will be some interesting remarks regarding one’s ability to hit it straight! The playoffs take place to decide the teams that will get to wear the coveted championship T-shirt and have bragging rights for a year.

April arrives and the season ending banquet will be held. The Spring Season starts and once again managers will select the players that they hopefully feel will lead them to a victorious season. Elections for board positions take place.

May shows up and the newly elected board members take office. Pickup games will begin for registered players. The games will begin near the end of May and run to the end of June. These games will be fun and interesting as infielders will try to play the outfield and outfielders will try their hand as an infielder. The harassment will start immediately.

June: Pickup games end as it’s starting to really cook.

July and August: Too hot to handle and the field needs a rest.

September starts the planning for the upcoming 31st season draft and season start.

October will see the 31st season get underway with the traditional opening day ceremonies.

November to December will see the Fall/Winter Season in full swing.

Whew!
