Parmer Gillespie and his guest Tim Pretzer were the overall Traditional Format winners of the 2017 PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association 22nd annual Member/Guest Tournament. The tourney was held on Thursday, April 27 at Eagle’s Nest and on Friday, April 28 at Tuscany Falls. Immediately after regulation play was concluded on Friday, the overall winners were determined in a playoff.

Each two-man team had a choice whether to play traditional stroke play or match play. So we really had two tournaments within a tournament. The Traditional Format consisted of two 18-hole stroke-play rounds. The format for the first round was a Chapman (a modified alternate shot). The format for the second round was a two-man net best ball. A total of 48 teams participated with 16 teams competing in each flight.

Flight Winners

Flight 1: 1st place Parmer Gillespie/Tim Pretzer, 2nd place Jim Hughes/Sam Saunders, 3rd place Jan Cralle/Chris Cralle

Flight 2: 1st place Harry Apodaca/Phill Ingram, 2nd place Les Armstrong/Scott Armstrong, 3rd place Doug Goodin/Wes Goodin

Flight 3: 1st place Jim Sheard/Dennis Dermann, 2nd place Ted Moeller/Chad Moeller, 3rd place George Brown/Josh Barclay

The three flight winners met on hole No. 1 of the new nine at Tuscany Falls to determine the overall winners. This was the second time in tournament history that this hole was utilized for the playoff. The format was a three-hole net-aggregate with players alternating shots. Three different tees and hole placements were used. The first hole played as a 345-yard par 4. The second hole as a 150-yard par 3 and the final hole as a 100-yard par 3. Ronnie Decker and Dave Vader conducted this playoff.

This playoff venue makes for an exciting finish. The true alternate format is a tough one and with 25 mph wind gusts right into the player’s faces, par was a great score. The first hole was a bear as no team made par. Parmer and Tim parred the second hole to take a one shot lead. The pressure was intense. No lead was safe with those winds. On the last hole Parmer and Tim held their lead with a par to win the grand prize!

Congratulations to all the winners, especially Parmer and Tim!

We want to thank Jeff Lebo, Joe Miller and their greenskeeper staffs for fantastic playing conditions. As always, thanks to the Food & Beverage staff and managers for all of their efforts. Thanks to Bill Barnard, Jason Whitehill, Ronnie Decker and Dave Vader for all they do for our events.
